okay so here it goes,I am a first time travel nurse who feels I have really been taken advantage of. I chose to start traveling this spring and began asking around about what company is the best and who offered the most money to travel. I was told Cross country was good to travel with so I applied and after 6 months of looking they final came up with a position for me. I would see postings for 37-40 dollar an hour jobs but there was always a snag with these"oh they want previous travel or that has already been filled.BS they want your best for very little pay. I am in Fredericksburg ,Va. two days travel away from family and have got nothing but "SCREWED" here,from the pay to the hours.The day I showed up at Mary Washington the staff had no idea who I was or thet they were getting a travel nurse. Now they are out of work so they are asking me to go to another hospital I have no contract with to work because that hospital is "short staffed". Not my problem!! Then they had me scheduled to work on Thanksgiving and two days before told me to take the day off because they didn't want to pay travel time and a half-***. I also was on call for 24 hrs of which I got called in to not only work but to charge at a hospital I had not been working at but for 3 wks and are trying to pay me just time and a half not call-back pay-a difference of about $300. When I first got the contract to travel it said scrub only and I am a circulating RN-so they changed the contract but when I asked about the pay they said it was the same rate ,again BS. I asked one of the nurses I went through orientation with what she was making and she said $35 plus the misc which comes to about $42/hr I am at $26.50 Iwill never work for them again -they will SCREW you believe me-DON'T WORK FOR ROSS COUNTRY THEY SCREW THEIR NEW TRAVEL NURSES!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear about this...it is so hard that us agency nurses whether travel or local get screwed in every hole left and right...We learn a lesson and just have to move on...

Circulating RN?/ You should be able to get min $37HR package.. I know there are a TON of OR contracts in AZ with Indian Health right now, the nice thing about them is they will take a license from ANY state...although AZ is compact.

Curious...Were the other nurses counting their meals and incidentals in with their pay? Were you getting M&I pay too?

Don't believe everything people tell you either.
