I have worked both a skilled agency and a non-skilled agency. I believe you are interested in skilled. I left my non-skilled job as a Field Staff Supervisor RN. I was responsible for overseeing the CNA staff who cared for clients in their homes. I was craving wound care, I V therapy and more hands on home care nursing. The company provided me with a preceptor and we provided in home care to her clients for approx 4 weeks. Just a note...Make sure you let your employer know exactly what your schedule is then hold to it!
I think it depends what agency you work with. I have been a nurse for 3 years and I got 4 hours orientation with a nurse in the hospital. Not a lot of time, you kind of need to know your stuff. Doesn't mean you have to know everything...I still ask a lot of questions. I personally wouldn't go in as a new grad though.
Agencies usually look for nurses that have some experience but it depends on the agency and the assignments. As for training you often have to hit the ground running. Some facilities do an orientation just like they would for a new hire and some give you a quick tour, give you the basics, and let you loose.

Just as a new grad, do agencies offer training and orientation? Or is it a field for nurses who have more experience?
