you would have to wait for your ahpra reg before you can apply and you have to pass the 60 points requirement. this includes at least 36 mos exp overseas thats for the independent skilled subclass 189. first step is to lodge an expression of interest and wait for immi to invite you to apply. i think you cant stay in au if its being process as your living rights would still be of your previous visa.

hope this helps! :)

@aila61 tnx for replying, while PR is on process, i thought they will grant you a bridging visa for you to have the right to stay in OZ while waiting for PR approval? Or should I apply for a BRIDGING Extension visa before my "3 months visa" ( for ex subclass 600 or student visa ) expires?........ Another question is will they process your PR if you are offshore?

And btw do you think it would be practical to process MIGRANT PR VISA offshore first before going to oz or to take bp?

You will not be eligible for any working visa until you have Nurses Registration.

hi you wouldnt be able to apply for PR without your registration so you would need to do your BP first - get RN license - apply for skills assessment in ANMAC - lodge and expression of interest for PR - get invited by DIAC to apply for PR - then lodge PR application.

skills assessment from ANMAC would take 4 mos and getting invited to apply for PR would i think be around 3-4 mos as from what Ive heard from my friends who applied. if it happens that you were able to lodge your PR while still on your visa subclass 600 i think you may be able to get a bridging visa while waiting PR in Oz. but the problem is you wouldnt be able to work while waiting for PR and its really not that practical.

those who werent able to get a job applied for PR offshore and I reckon the waiting time would be longer if its filed offshore as they would prioritise those who are currently staying in oz like what happens when applying for 457.

i am not an expert regarding PR hehe but those info are based from what my friends experienced. all requirements are in the DIAC website. :)

Hi aldzp20.

Are you currently on a subclass 600 or student visa? That is true, once you applied for another substantive visa, you will be granted with a Bridging Visa. This will allow you to stay in Australia until you get an approval for the visa that you applied. However, application for PR is a very long and complicated process especially if you are applying for an Independent Skilled Migrant. You need to apply for an assessment with ANMAC which takes a while before you get a response. We do not know if your current visa is still valid during that time and you needed to go back to your home country.

On the other hand, you can wait til you get your registration. If you think you have enough experience.. Give yourself few months to apply for jobs and wait if you find any sponsors. At the same time, start processing your ANMAC.If you didn't get any job, applying for PR is your fallback. That way, you can have several options.

Hi annie,

Im not yet there in OZ ☺...Im still on APHRA lodgement stage which Im going to do next week. Im just getting information so that it will be easy for me when Im already there. Im planning to process everything on my own since applying with a Consultancy is quite expensive.

Btw when can i apply for ANMAC ASSESSMENT? Can i apply for it pre or post bp?, can i do it offshore?what if i applied for it but then my visa is near expiry?

Im not quite sure about this but the consultancy told us that when your PR is on process, you are allowed to stay in OZ with work rights?

i have 4 yrs and 6months experience in total so im really qualified for PR. The consultancy that visited our town offers PR pathway but its too expensive and one can basically do it on his/her own.

THNX MUCH 4 the reply....or anyone that could answer my query...

post bp and when you receive your reg already :) i dont know why they told you that you can stay in OZ with work rights while PR is being processed unless maybe you'll be on a student visa first yes you can work 20 hrs per wk but student visa is only valid until the course ends so you might need to enrol to a diff course which may allow you to stay for another yr depending on the course with working rights.

you can lodge PR while your in Phils as long as you already have your AHPRA license. :)

What about if you got the sponsor (employer) ? What happens to your back ticket? I jsust hope its refundable just like in the US.

I think its not necessary to get a round trip ticket..

Australian immigration, if they are doing their job properly, are not supposed to allow anyone into Australia without a return ticket home, unless they have a visa that allows work and/or no time restrictions!! I find it difficult to understand why this would not be a requirement, I would expect any country I visited without an immigration visa to want me to have a return ticket home.
