Immigration aim! But where?

Hello Everybody,

I have a very difficult question and I really need your advice or opinion about the issue.

I really want to immigrate somewhere but I don't know which country would be the best choice. I am not concerned about money, all I want is a decent place to work in a nice country with some respect as a nurse.

Some lines abou me:

So I am from an Eastern European country which is part of the EEA so I won't need any work permit in the EEA and I think it would be easy to register with my degree in any EEA country as a nurse.

I am trained as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and I have three-year experience in the pre-hospital/critical care. I obtained a higher vocational certificate in nursing so I am able to work in the hospital environment. After three-years of pre-hospital care, I started to work as an ICU/ER nurse. On the other hand, I am a part time student as a Bsc nurse at this moment. I will acquire my Bsc diploma from a famous college in two years and after that I want to go somewhere to work.

All in all, I will have a Bsc Nursing degree with six-year work experience, mostly ICU/ER/CC. So my main intent is to be an ICU/ER nurse.

Languages:

I can speak English fluently. Luckily I have sense and passion for learning new languages so I want to start to learn a new language soon. But what language? It depends on my choice about immigration. I am really thinking about German, Swedish, Norwegian or Holland. I think language barrier won't be any problem.

My opinion:

I've made a long research about the immigration issue on the Internet, I've gone over many topics here on this site as well and my opinion is that it's not so easy to work as a foreign trained nurse in any country. There is a huge number of locally trained unemployment nurses in many countries like Australia, NZ or US. So they are out of question.

But what about the EEA countries? For example the UK. I have spoken some of my British friends and they told me that it's not so easy to find a position within the NHS. NHS offers only bank/zero hours contract and the situation is quite unstable there. If they call you then you can work, it they don't....

They told me that it's much easier to find a work in nursing homes or home care but this is not my goal with all this experience and skills...

I found plenty of advertisements about nursing positions in Germany. So? What about the other countries? What about Netherlands, Sweeden or Norway? Do you have any information? Is it easier to find any ER/ICU position there with a confident langauge skills?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Well, that's just untrue. Have you actually done any job searching as opposed to just talking to people? My own trust currently has 17 permanent full-time posts (and who knows how many openings per post) recruiting for entry-level nurses, including two ICU jobs specifically for non-experienced nurses.

Thank you for your quick reply.

To be honest, I have already checked the NHS website about the available positions and I found a plenty of vacanies within the critical/acute/ER care. And I also found a huge number of nursing positions such as endoscopy, theatre or anesthesia care.

I was in England one year ago to visit one of my friend in Liverpool and I had a chance to speak with a traniee nurse there. (She lived with my friend in flatshare). She was complaining about the lack of available positions in the UK for newly qualified nurses. And she was also complaing about the nurse immigration issue. She told me that she will go to NZ or Australia as soon as she gets her diploma because it's almost impossible to get a job as a nurse because of the huge number of immigrated nurses.

So I don't know what's going on in the UK, it's quite confusing. :)

I worked as a bank nurse with the nhs when i first qualified and i actually did more hours there than i do under my contract that i have now! Also some wards will let you pick from there bank rota so i would actually know what i was working month to month and i would get called in to do extra on top, once you are working in a ward and on the bank they will more likely offer the job to someone on the bank doing hours than someone not. In the nhs they have internal posts as well as posts that you can see on other websites, hope that helps
