I have completed the Baccalaureate nursing equivalency table and was given the eligibility to write the exam. Sat the exam October this year and successfully passed. It's worth a try completing this table. Good luck!

i am in the process of filling out the bet dissertation but i have only worked in the emergency room setting. i am finding a little difficult coming up with examples to discuss. does anyone have any suggestions of websites that would give some examples. and does anyone else find the ontario board of nurses to not be helpful at all when talking to their case manager? has anyone had ********, because i swear they are just underlings who really know nothing but hold your future in their hands. my family has already moved to canada and i am stuck here in michigan while i work on this freakin bet. anyone have any suggestions?:uhoh3::mad:

hello to anyone who may be able to assist me. i am currently trying to fill out the bet form and finding it difficult to come up with scenerio's for each section. i have 15 yrs. er experience, 7 as an rn and 8 as a paramedic. i feel that my case manager,**************, at the cno never seems to offer me any suggestions or help when i call her. she always just states, you will hear from us through the mail. it has really been quite frustrating:confused:! i would just like to talk to someone who has completed this to offer me any suggestions. my family is already living in strattford, ontario and it really stinks that i have to continue to work here in the U.S. while I struggle to come up with the examples they are looking for. i have a bachelor's degree in business admin. from hillsdale college. an associates in nursing, and an associate's degree as a paramedic with 39 credits of science between all of them, yet that is still not good enough for the cno. could someone please offer me some positive feedback that this is all going to be worth it?:uhoh3:

The entry to practice for registered nurses in Ontario is the Baccalaureate degree. Period. CNO has a great deal of other important functions to accomplish on a day-to-day basis than to spend hours on the phone with people who are not members of their organization. Ontario, as the most populous province in Canada, also has the largest number of registered nurses and registered practical nurses in the country. CNO's primary duty is regulatory and part of that is related to protection of the public. Other duties of the College include establishment of standards, discipline, assurance of continuing competence, practice consultation, and advocacy; the support and registration of nurses from other jurisdictions is but a minute part of their mandate. The sheer volume of internationally-educated nurses wishing to obtain registration and employment in Canada would boggle your mind, and there are not enough hours in the day to walk every single applicant through the process. They've developed their process over time and have had to make hard decisions about how to manage applications. There are no shortcuts and there are no exceptions. You'll just have to do what you can and wait it out.

My suggestion to you is to chill out. Do you think yours is the only application out of thousands of internationally trained nurses they are screening for eligibility? No. In fact, all of these applications are taking away from their more important work - regulating nursing practice in Ontario, maintaining standards of practice, protecting the public and administering quality assurance for its existing members. If you really feel "they are underlings who know nothing" why are you bothering to apply for licensure in this country? CNO doesn't care that the process is impeding with your social and family life nor should they, their only concern is whether you've met the strict educational requirements for entry to practice in order to protect the public. And that's exactly how it should be.

your right, i am just frustrated with all the requirements that are needed for licensure. i am sorry for spewing out my frustration on my post, but i thought it would have been easier after receiving a job offer. i understand that the cno is very busy and i am just impatient. thank you for the reply and i appreciate your honesty. i am applying for licensure in your country because i do think it is a great country and you canadians must be doing something right because your not having the economic nightmare that michigan is having right now. i just miss my fam and want to get with them asap:o.
