World Immigration

Published

Good day! I am a nurse from the Philippines and now planning to take NCLEX and be a registered nurse in Illinois. You see, I already passed the CGFNS as well as the IELTS. I was wondering if I need to request CGFNS a Credential Evaluation Service since I already passed the exam. And, I also would like to know if I have to take also the TOEFL since as I mentioned earlier I already passed another english exam which is the IELTS.

hope for replies soon! thanks a lot

you need to have CES.

TOEFL may be waived by the Department/Division if your credentials evaluation report indicates your nursing

education program was conducted in English utilizing English Textbooks.

hi dcraneses! we share the same sentiment. i, too have passed the cgfns and ielts series. and i applied to illinois through cts. i was worried before that my application wont be approved because i havent took and passed the toefl series which is the english requirement for the state of illinois. but i got mine approved. i kept asking myself if i still have to take the toefl exam but my question was answered through the link that kathykaye posted above. u must visit that link.

all you have to do now is to visit the website of illinois to obtain the application forms. www.idfpr.com request idfpr to send you a fingerprintcard and apply for your ces from cgfns www.cgfns.org and thats it. they will notify you once they have received your application and if you're still missing other documents and lastly they will also notify you if they approved your application. goodluck! god bless!

application form

you can also apply online.

www.continentaltesting.net

you can go to US embassy and ask for fingerprint card. have it fingerprinted on any NBI office near you. then send it to identix with a fee.

thanks for the replies!

nxt777, so ur saying to just submit my CES and other forms like the fingerprint card and CT NUR? thats a good news. You are not going to take the TOEFL? pls keep me updated about the status of your application and probably will do same steps u did. Thank you so much!

yes, apply your ces through cgfns. cts will view your ces online when cgfns is done with it. since you already passed the cgfns certification program you may apply for your ces online for faster processing. http://www.cgfns.org/sections/programs/ces/ cgfns may or may not ask you to submit forms from your nursing school and from prc since they already have these files when you applied for the cp exam. when i applied online i didnt submit any other forms and i just received my copy of ces. if you do apply online, check your order status every now and then. you can even apply for your ces before you send your application to illinois since it takes more time to process the ces than to mail your application forms to cts.

the fingerprint card - must be requested from illinois department of finance and professional regulation through snail mail (this is the one i did) or you may email them http://www.idfpr.com/dpr/e_mail/prfgrp09.asp or as posted by kathykaye you may go to the us embassy and request for one. make sure its for the state of illinois. coz different states also utilize different fingerprint cards. then go to nbi carriedo, get your fingerprints on the card and mail it to one of the vendors listed with the fees. kathykaye always remind applicant to make a note to the vendor where they will be sending their fp card to make a note to forward their original receipt to cts. i have a relative from illinois and i sent it to them so they will be the one to process it there and they mailed the original receipt to cts. they submitted my fp card to art's investigations.

the ct-nur - just bring it to prc, you'll just have to pay some fees and they will be the one to send it to cts. again, you may do this ahead before you mail your application forms to cts because it takes some time for prc to process this.

toefl - i wont be taking it anymore because i got my application approved already. it might has been waived because of this http://www.idfpr.com/dpr/apply/forms/cgfns_02.pdf

i passed the ielts so il be using it for my visa screen. just yesterday i have applied online for my visa screen but i do have to submit some forms to my nursing school and to prc (because i think, vsc is processed by

ichp, a division of cgfns) unlike when i applied for ces wherein i didnt mail any documents to them (may be because its cgfns who processed this). you can actually apply for your vsc if still dont have one. its $498. http://www.cgfns.org/sections/programs/vs/

just go to US embassy and ask for a fingerprint card... so that it wont waste your time waiting for the card from the US. you can use fingerprint cards from any states.. just make sure it is a standard FBI card. read the links above.

call them and ask how much is the fee.

hi nxt777! why did you apply for the ces? you can just use your cgfns certificate to apply for the exam. anyway, they just require ces for those who didn't take the cgfns exam. :)

^ cgfns exam is different from CES.. IL needs the CES so you have to apply for it even if you already have your CGFNS exam certificate...
