already passed the CGFNS and IELTS- how to take NCLEX in Illinois

Good day! I am a nurse from the Philippines and now planning to take NCLEX and be a registered nurse in Illinois. You see, I already passed the CGFNS as well as the IELTS. I was wondering if I need to request CGFNS a Credential Evaluation Service since I already passed the exam. And, I also would like to know if I have to take also the TOEFL since as I mentioned earlier I already passed another english exam which is the IELTS.

hope for replies soon! thanks a lot

ouch... okay, i have another problem... coz, i still don't have my license... Coz, i just passed the Local Board Exam last December here in the Philippines, and they said that I could only get my license around may or june...

So, I was trying to answer all of the required filleds in the CES application (I'm at the CGFNS website right now) and it's requiring for the license number... do I need to wait for my license? or is there a way for me to request for the CES without the license...

:scrying:

hmmm, I did not use the online application for CES eh.. when I applied I didn't have my license number yet. luckily, in the application form (you can download it in the CGFNS' website), it was not asked so I was able to fill everything up in my application form... then a month later, when PRC released our Cards.. that's when i was able to send the license verfication form.. so there.. I suggest you wait first, enjoy the summer.. and when the releasing of your card is already near, that's when you should apply for ces..

okay... hello... ive been a user here for a long time already but i think this is my first or second post... it's been a long time already... hehehe anyway, i have a lot of questions, so i really need some help...

i'm from the philippines and i just passed the board exam last december, now my cousin wants me to apply for nclex examination in illinois... so, my problem is, i'm really confused with the application... i've read all of the stuff here but it left me more confused...

and another info is, i haven't taken the cgfns exam, coz my cousin told me not to...

so here are my questions...

1. ces

> how can i apply for ces? do i have to email them? are they going to email me? can anyone tell me the whole process? coz, technically, i'm just a kid here... i really don't know what to do... :(

> and if i pass the application form first, is that okay? could the ces be sent later?

apply for the ces report thru cgfns, i applied it online but u can also apply via traditional airmail. if you have applied with any services of cgfns you can create an account on their website to check the status of your application. i suggest you anticipate the time cts will receive all your documents in timely fashion.

>in part iv, should i just leave all of that blank? coz i really don't know what i should write there... i mean, should i write that i took my licensure exam here in the philippines? and i still dont have my license number coz prc here in the philippines would only give it to us around june...
i wonder why will it take that long for prc to give you your license number. did you register already? the registration number is the same with your license number (if im not mistaken). i took nle june 2005, registered by july and got my license number. (just a month time, while you have to wait for 6mos?)

> fp - nur...

* coz i live in bacolod, that's too far away from the us embassy, so i would probably need the fingerprint card from the us... is that correct? which agency could i contact? how long will that take? and is it okay if the fingerprint got delayed?

you can email them to request for a fingerprint card. this would take approx, a week. you may also send an airmail to idfpr and request for one. but this would take you time. in my case almost 3wks before i rcvd my fp card. if the fingerprint card got delayed i think its ok. because thats what happened to me. i mailed my application on aug2006 and my fp receipt on jan1, 2007, all to cts. and i got my application approved by jan5, 2007. and rcvd my letter of eligibility on jan23, 2007

> wh (work history)

* i haven't worked in any hospitals yet, so do i still need to fill this up and send it?

i didnt submit this.

please please help me.. i'm really clueless about this things... and i'm the only one from my friends who is going to take the exams in illinois... please please please....
we share the same sentiment

and last, is it better if i just apply online? coz this written application is really making me confused...
i suggest you use the written application
hello!!! again, im confused... will i include my original cgfns certificate with my application when i fed ex them or the cgfns will be the one to send it??? but i have the original with me!!! oohh...confirmation please... nxt777?...gidi???? where are you guys?

i suggest you keep the original with you and just ask cgfns to send a copy of your cg certificate to cts. im not sure how much it costs.

the CES? I went to CGFNS to download it, and I think there's a fee... that's really giving me a problem because it costs so much... are there any agencies there who could help me? Coz I have one friend, she found an agency in New York, and they're sponsoring her NCLEX examination and payments... if ever she pass this examination, they would get her and she would ahve a contract of 2 years. I asked her if maybe she sould help me get in on the same agency, but she said that she just got in because het auntie knew someone there... :( Are there any similar agencies that could help me in Chicago?

Money is a really big problem kasi... :(

and about the license... yep, I registered already... and in our claim slip, they said that we would only be able to get it after 6 months. and I also called PRC and they told me the same thing...

So, you're telling me, the registration number is my license number?

I just wanted to apply already coz the review for NCLEX is going to start already... and I want to review na and finsih all of this... :(

i dont have an agency yet. can't help you with this. try looking for agency and ask them if they sponsor nurses to illinois.

im trying to check my claim slip to see if the registration number and license number is the same. but of course i surrendered the claim slip to prc when i got my license card.:lol2: try to contact prc. you dont actually need the card but just your license number. ask them if its the same with your registration number.

i just wanted to apply already coz the review for nclex is going to start already... and i want to review na and finsih all of this... :(

you can apply and at the same time review for the nclex. when cts received all your documents, its easy for them to send you your eligibility letter. and by then you can register to pearson. and once pearson sends you your att thats only good for 90 days. best advice for you is to start reviewing asap so you wont cram.

i suggest you keep the original with you and just ask cgfns to send a copy of your cg certificate to cts. im not sure how much it costs.

u know what, i just sent my cgfns certificate, but before i did that, i asked them through email if the certificate will be returned to me and they said "yes" so im expecting it to be returned.

Hi! just finished accomplishing my fingerprint card from NBI. so what will i do next??

here are some questions regarding the fingerprint cards:

1. when i went to US embassy to ask for a card, they gave me a fingerprint card labeled: BD nursing albuquerque, NM. I told the lady from the embassy if I could have an Illinois specified card, she told me that it is the SAME card given to all nurses who asked for a fingerprint card and the label doesnt matter.. I was confused..pls enlighten me with this.

2. will i send the certifying statement to idfpr and send the fingerprint card to identix?

3. How will they know that that card is intended for IDFPR?

4. What will I indicate in the reason fingerprinted?

5. What is an application packet where all the fees are indicated. do u have a link on this?

thanks guys for all the help! i am almost done with my application, thanks!!

Never, ever send original documents, always a copy. You keep the original. What happens if it gets lost in the mail?

Sorry, but the card does matter and you should be using one from the state where you are applying.

And please be aware that your friend will not be working in a hospital in NY, but is now owned by that agency. And I mean owned.

Nothing is done out of the goodness of the agency's heart. The money to pay for everything will be coming from the paycheck for the length of the contract, about $10,000 per year of the contract.

Highly recommend that you spend sometime reading some of the posts here and especially the stickies at the top of this forum.
