Vanderbilt Grad Entry 2012 Application

Specialties Advanced

Published

Hello! I have seen forums for the previous years' application cycles, but not for the class starting fall 2012.

Sooo... how's it going for everyone? I take the GRE on Friday (gah!) so of course I'm trying to avoid studying for that!

Does anyone know if CNM competes with CNM/FNP applicants or if they are considered separately?

@amandy45: the questions were exactly the same as the ones shazza0001 has listed because i also interviewed for the cnm/fnp track. they also asked why i chose the specialty and would you be willing to travel for clinical rotations. after that they asked if i had any questions. hope that helps and good luck!

@Barbaraleev: I read somewhere that the CNM/FNP students are part of the CNM cohort (not FNP), so I'm thinking that CNM competes with CNM/FNP. But don't quote me on that.

I just realized that we could start hearing in as little as 10 or so days!!! Maybe even by 17th or 18th as I have seen from previous years on here.... insanely nervous and praying for the best!!

@AnneP: I hope it's that soon! I just got off the phone interview and I was told end of this month/beginning of next month. OH wells, guess all we can do is wait and hope for the best!

ACNP applicants-- have you heard anything? it has been quiet on my end and I don't know what to make of it..I am a little concerned!

Hi all! I just finished my Phone interview as well, and was also told that decisions would be sent out around the end of February/beginning of March...hang in there! :)The faculty at Vanderbilt are so warm and welcoming. They made the interview so comfortable and smooth!

Nothing here... But I think it is not quite time yet. Good luck!

I interviewed on Monday and they didn't ask me anything about why I selected my specialty. Given, my personal statement is fairly passionate, but my interview lasted only 5 minutes (except for the part where I asked them questions.) They asked me three questions: One about group learning, the one about was I willing to travel around for clinicals, and how did I handle conflict. All in all, it was a pretty strange interview and I have no idea what to make of it. I interviewed 2 weeks ago at Yale (in person) and I thought it went quite well and feel pretty good about it - but this - it was just weird. Anyone else have any bizarrely brief interviews?

Maybe they were behind on their schedule? They called me a few minutes late, maybe they really just needed to make a bunch of calls! I wouldn't worry :) Maybe this just proves that interview are a formality! What was your specialty? That could have something to do with it.

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one with a short interview. Mine lasted about 15 minutes total, about 5 of those were me asking questions. And I asked them at the beginning of the interview. I wanted to ask "what do you think makes a good candidate for this program" or "what do you expect out of students in this program," but I thought that would be weird to ask at the beginning, because then I would obviously be using those words and phrases during answering their questions. And one of the women was late for the interview, but it was only 5 minutes or so. And when the other called to introduce herself to me, she explained that the other was having a SNAFU and was stuck in traffic. Yes, she used the word SNAFU, and I thought that was absolutely amazing. As if I didn't want to go here enough already, that just solidified it hahaha. Okay, slightly joking. But only slightly... :)

i was wondering if other people have gotten into other schools that have ridiculously soon dates for sending in deposits. i really want to know if i got into so i don't end up sending a deposit to a school that i'm not as excited about, but some schools want deposits so early! has anyone else encountered this problem??
