I just completed my FNP and I am getting ready to prepare for boards under the AANP. Has anyone taken boards for 2014 as yet? How is it? and how did you prepare for the Certification exam? What review materials do you suggest? and How long did you study before taking boards?

I passed the AANP Adult-Gero Primary Care exam yesterday!!!! My plan of attack was not to wait too long after graduation as I feel you will forget a lot and either you know it or you don't. I did not do a review. I took the whole week after graduation off from work and read the Leik book from front to cover. I did all of her questions in the back. Every day after I studied from her book, I would take an APEA predictor test and my scores improved each day after I studied. I did not study the questions in Leik, rather I studied content. I also purchased the predictor exam from the AANP website which boosted my confidence and I felt the questions were quite similar to the actual exam. I spent time on epocrates and CDC web site reviewing treatment guidelines for things such as sinusitis, otitis, pneumonia, etc. and I reviewed task force guidelines, GOLD guidelines, CURB 65 and JNC 8 though I must admit had very little on my exam as far as guidelines. I felt the exam was straight forward as I was sure halfway thru that I was going to pass and did not even go back to review. Good luck all!!!1

congrats!!! you rock!!!!

@ryguyRN: Have you re-taken the AANP exam? My stress is all the way to the roof as I am scheduled to take it tomorrow. I am panicking and cramming. I am consistently failing the aanp-fnp.com practice tests, scores averaging 500. I feel like I should have rescheduled it. I graduated in February but took a break for 2 months. I attended the Fitzgerald class in April and have been studying 5 days/week, 4-5 hours/day. Perhaps it is not sufficient. :( I also took the AANP practice exam (paid $50) immediately after the live review class and miraculously passed with 78% score. Of course, this does not mean anything until I pass the real exam. Wish you luck if you have not retaken it or congratulations if you have passed it!! Please pass out some pointers for me if you can. Thank you!!

Congratulations!!!

Hey everyone, I am taking the AANP exam soon and looking for study tips. Thanks!
