I did a 4 week assignment there back in April last year. The facility was really really busy during that time. Lots of snowbirds (older retired people that come to escape the cold weather) from Canada. During the summer months I hear the census is low. The city itself....not much to do unless you like to gamble. There are a couple different casinos nearby. There is also an big Marine Corps base that may have some functions for the public. Another good thing is that it is very close to the Mexico border so if you want to drive over there.
The big problem is getting there if you fly. The airport is as big as a 3 car garage and unless you are flying in directly from phoenix be prepared for a looooooong flight because you will have to change planes twice.
Thanks for the help guys. Yuma is a 3 hour drive from where I live now, so flying there isn't a problem. The position being offered is a full-time position so I will be there in the busy and slow seasons (warm months and screaming hot months). I am really most curious about the culture at the facility itself. I don't want to leave the my FT position only to find that management at YRMC is unbearable. Thanks!
