Yuba City anyone? Anyone?

Published

I was just curious to know if anyone has gone to/heard from Yuba City college? :coollook:

Do you mean Yuba College in Marysville. I am starting their nursing program in August 2008.

I'm familar with Yuba College. I grew up in Marysville. (It's NOT in Yuba City, btw.) What do you want to know? I left the area around 6 years ago and won't even drive through there now. I won't even go there to visit family anymore. But Yuba is great. Unfortunately they burn through instructors really fast and usually lose their best faculty within a year.

Any advise or tips will greatly be appreciated. Thanks

Yuba College for RN? :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Probably not worth applying right now unless you're local with good grades and want a backup school. They have a multi-year waitlist, and just changed their requirements.

According to the counselor I spoke with, they're now taking the top 15 local and top 15 non-local applicants each semester... FOR THE MULTI-YEAR WAIT LIST!

And "local" is very limited. I live 10 miles away from, and in the same county as, the Woodland campus (the RN program is split between the two campuses, though mostly in Marysville). I've taken most of my prerequisites there and bike to class. I'm not local.

So, in a few years, once the current waitlist clears out, it'll probably be a great place for local people to apply, with high quality students.

Now? It feels like they're freezing the waitlist without officially doing so, since most people qualified to get on the waitlist will probably get in elsewhere before making it through.

I don't have any knowledge about the LVN program, and have overall been very satisfied with my prerequisite classes at the Woodland campus (the sciences are hard to get into, but I've managed to do so when I needed to).

Thank You Jess6 for the new info on Yuba College's new criteria, I am so glad I applied and am starting this month. I'm so glad I got in when I did or I would probably still be watiting to get into other ADN programs. I knew they changed their criteria but I didn't know that they were using the local and non-local criteria also.

Marysville, not Yuba City, my bad. I have been on the waitlist since April of 2007. I have finished every pre-req needed so I am just waiting. I know that they are switching to the points system. I wish they would tell me what my points are. I have no idea. I am in Sacramento so the issue with them placing from their own county is really frustrating. Especially since I have been waiting for so long. I guess I should make an appointment with a counselor. Maybe they can give me some much needed info.

If you're already on the Yuba waiting list, I don't think the new point system effects you, though the prerequisite changes and need for a passing score on the admissions test do.

Well that is good. I dont think I would have had an issue with points system though. I did well in all of my science courses. I have emailed the Dean of Admissions secretary to have my chemistry class evaluated as I took my college chem at ARC. I made a counseling appt in case they dont get back to me. I figure that is the next best thing. The waiting seems endless. It really feels that the application process is one step foward and then two steps back......I have been applying for 2 1/2 years now. I have recently given my notice at work and I am putting in applications to volunteer at some local hospitals so I can get some experience.

How did you end up liking it?
