Do you get a differential for working in the ER? If you do, I would really appreciate if you would PM me and let me know how much and at which facility, (or a least the name of the town). I am trying to get together a proposal for the CEO at my facility. Thank you so much for your help!

Specializes in ER.

No ER differential, but $.35 for CCRN (or CEN, or any other applicable certification). ACLS, TNCC, etc. paid for by the hospital.

Nights is a good deal though - work 36, paid for 40, $2 diff, plus a $500 bonus four times per year for the night assignment.

Just wanted to let you all know I really appreciate all of the replies.

No diff here. Tampa, FL.

Specializes in Emergency Room/corrections.
Sorry to tell you this, but I have worked ER in quite a few cities and have never gotten a special differential for working it. I think we should of course, but we don't, or at least I haven't in Atlanta, Little Rock, Oklahoma City, Tucson, or Asheviille, NC.

and.... none in California, Kansas, Colorado or Pennsylvania.

NOPE...PAY SCALE FOR E.D., ICU AND CCU ARE THE SAME..THEY ARE ALL R.N.'S WITH CRITICAL CARE AND ACLS....IF ONE WERE TO MAKE MORE, THE OTHERS WOULD GO TO BATTLE !!!

The nurses in the cath lab are making $2/hr more for specialty pay at my facility.

At the hospital I work at we get an additional $5 more an hour over our base rate not including shift differentials. It is also $3 more an hour if you are the Charge nurse for the shift.

We don't get a differential for ER. I don't think anyone in our hospital does. As far as they see it an RN is an RN no matter what area or whether you are an ADN or BSN. We do have good shift differentials though. We get 3.00 for nights during the week, and 6.00 for weekend days and 9.00 for weekend nights. Night shift also gets a 1500.00 bonus every 6 months

No differential or extra pay for working the ED here in MA.....None in ME either.

Here in MA we get no differential for carrying any certifications or acls tncc, and we have no nurse to pt staff ratio so many times 10:1 :o

In Western MA, I get 35c/hr for CCRN and $1 for BSN.

My ratio goes as high as 14:1!

Lucky you :rotfl: The interesting thing about our situation is our hospital is part of the study where there is a 5:1 ratio on the floors and they have 2 aides for the floor. The ICU gets usually 1:1 and rarely 2:1, any overflow the beds are closed and the pt stays in the ED

We have had 3 pts on respirators awaiting admit to ICU and 3 to the step down unit not to mention a full house of patients being currently treated and have 3 nurses on and it does not matter
