I know there are other threads out there (and I've read them all) but there hasn't been one recently.
I'm looking for your advice/ experience taking the HESI A2 entrance exam. No offense intended but I'm looking for the experiences of those that were/are required to take the FULL test (including sciences). I realize many programs only require the basics (math, reading, vocab). My program requires the full test sans physics.
I am a good student have a prior B.A. and have earned high A's in all my prerequisites but I'm nervous about being able to translate what I know into an exam. I've got just under a month before I take the exam. I've been focusing on the A&P and chemistry because I feel like most of the other stuff is general knowledge. I have several of the review guides and I have my class notes and text books from A&P and Chem. I do plan on reviewing conversions, fractions, and the basic math stuff I probably haven't done in twenty plus years.
Also, I understand that you are allowed to take the sections in any order and once you complete a section you are not allowed to look back. However, I'm wondering if you can skip/ mark questions within a section and return to them before completing that particular section. My typical test strategy is to go through it answering the questions I know 100% cold and then go back to the ones I need to reason out or think about for a moment.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Which section did you take first (or last) and why? I'm questioning whether it would be best to take my stronger subjects first as a warm up or last so that I'm not tired out when I take the subjects that are more difficult?
Thank you in advance for your help,
Anyone?

My school only required the 3 like you mentioned. But it definitely sounds like you have the right plan. Study guides and memorizing conversions will really help you. Only slightly helpful thing I could suggest is earplugs. It's an important test and it is very easy to get distracted by other's noises. I think you are allowed to return to previous questions because that's my usual strategy also.
Good luck, you sound very well prepared!
Kaybee,
Thanks for much for the reply. I never would have thought of earplugs. Great idea.

I recently took the HESI A-2, but I was only required to take the 3 sections. Regarding those 3 sections, I scored very high on everything except vocabulary. Most of the vocabulary on my particular exam was not in the Evolve study guide. I know that you were looking for more information, but maybe this could help.
Good luck!

I took the full exam with sciences, and I have to say that the chemistry was the hardest part. More in depth than I would have expected. The A&P was easier than I expected (I got a 96 on it), with less specific knowledge than I had studied for. For math, make sure you review percentages, fractions, and ratios. I had a ton of those. Bio was really basic-I got 100 on that one.
You cannot skip back to questions! You unfortunately have to work through every one before you can go on to the next. You have a ton of time, though, so don't worry about taking your time on each question.
I did the stuff in sets-started with easy for me (vocab), then did a hard (math), then back to easy, then back to hard. It seemed to work well, because my brain could rest a little in between the hard stuff. So maybe choose your strong subjects, and space them out with the weak ones.
Good luck! If you're getting good grades in school, and are fairly adept at grammar and vocab, you should be just fine.

I wrote this immediately after I took the test. Maybe this will help a bit. Any other questions about it, I could probably jog the memory. Email is within the posted responses.
