Rejected from ASU post-bacc nursing program, need some advice?
Can you clarify your location? I am in Arizona with a friend in the ASU post-bacc program and I am in the accelerated BSN program at Grand Canyon University. If you are in Arizona too, I would highly recommend speaking to one of the Maricopa Community College nursing counselors. They have a concurrent enrollment program between MCCCD campuses and a university, such as NAU or UoP. You get a BSN and it isn't as competitive as ASU and GCU programs. I have friends that were rejected by GCU with 3.3+. Also, many of these programs only let you retake one to two classes, making it harder to bump up your GPA. I know someone in the current enrollment program at GCC/NAU. All she had to do was get onto the MCCCD Nursing wait list, which is simple once you have the pre-reqs. After you are on that list, you can attend the next scheduled CEP info session and apply into a CEP program. She bypassed the ADN wait list and went right into the CEP program. You will also find that the CEP program (at least the one between MCCCD and NAU) is remarkably cost effective at around $12,000 total cost. Good luck in your journey!

GCC/NAU Concurrent Program
When you say that you were told this information... who are they and was this at an ASU specific CEP info session? I was told this information at the ASU MCC CEP info session that was held at Boswell on the 24th. There have only been 2 info sessions on the ASU CEP. If you didn't attend one of those, then you didn't get the information. The advisor that presented the information clarified this verbally, as well as it was in the PowerPoint presentation that she showed us. She showed NAU over $300 per credit hour, which puts it over $9000, excluding books, etc. On the same slide, she showed ASU at $805 a credit hour and stated that this also does not include books, but does include program fees. If you go to Maricopa Nursing and to the brochures, you will find that NAU is 30 credits and ASU is 47. That also plays a huge role in the cost. I hope that the ASU/MCC CEP info session at Boswell was completely wrong and whoever you are getting your information from is right, but I don't have faith in that. Sorry. Good luck with whatever pathway you take!

ASU CEP with Mesa Starts Fall of 2012
I attended the info session at Boswell on the 24th. The cost is $805 per credit hour. This comes to $37,835 and is in addition to MCCCD Nursing tuition of $2260. As I understand it, the NAU concurrent program is almost a quarter of the cost at $9510 plus the $2260! I was SO shocked and disappointed after getting home and crunching numbers. It doesn't even make sense. This is only $3,000 less than Grand Canyon University, and they are a FOR PROFIT school! Plus, GCU gives as much as $3500 in scholarship money PER SEMESTER, making their BSN program way cheaper than the ASU concurrent program. The NAU concurrent program is still way cheaper though...

GCC/NAU Concurrent Program
I also would like to know how those in the GCC/NAU CEP are feeling about the course load! I was SO ecstatic when I found out that there was going to be a CEP with ASU. I immediately signed up for an info session which I attended on Oct. 24th at Boswell. After getting home and mulling over the info, I was pretty disappointed. They shared the tuition costs for NAU and ASU concurrent programs. The NAU program seems to only be about $10K plus Maricopa's $2260, where ASU is almost $40K plus the $2260 and that doesn't cover textbooks!!!! ASU's tuition is calculated at $805/credit hour with a total of 47 credit hours. I was SHOCKED! Needless to say, as much as I wanted to attend this program, there is no way I am willing to pay that for their RN to BSN program, which is exactly what it is. *sigh*

Your advice for the HESI A2
I recently took the HESI A-2, but I was only required to take the 3 sections. Regarding those 3 sections, I scored very high on everything except vocabulary. Most of the vocabulary on my particular exam was not in the Evolve study guide. I know that you were looking for more information, but maybe this could help. Good luck!

HESI A2 for Maricopa Community Colleges???
I took the HESI A-2 recently. I purchased the Evolve study guide at Barnes and Noble. It helped me for everything except the vocabulary. Like other posters before me, I didn't recognize a lot of the terms in the vocabulary section. I did pass it though. From some of the things I have read about the exam, I am curious if everyone takes the exact same exam or if there are different versions to protect academic integrity. I have read some people say that they only had a few terms from the vocabulary section of the Evolve study guide, while others stated that at least half of their terms on their HESI were from their study guide. I fall in the first category mentioned. I only had a few terms from my Evolve study guide on my HESI exam. I was anxious during that section, to say the least. I scored very high in the other sections though. I am just happy I was able to pass it the first time. Does anyone know where to find info on the Evolve learning and personality types?
