Young and single! Should I move here?

Published

Hi everyone! I don't graduate until 2007 but why not start looking for a new place to live now? I'll be 21 when I graduate and have no kids (let's hope it stays that way lol). Where's the best place to live in Missouri?

I liked Columbia, Missouri. It has a population of about 100,000+ including the colleges. It always looked clean and seemed safe. With the 3 colleges, there are plenty of people around the age of 21. The clubs there never thrilled me, but I thought the drag shows were fun. There are beautiful parks, decent restaurant selection, poor mall, and 3 hospitals. Coming from a small town, I enjoyed the greater diversity of people and open-mindedness that goes along with a bigger town.

I would recommend either Columbia or a suburb of Kansas City. I currently live in Columbia and have been here now for about 6 years (I came here for college, then graduated, and haven't left yet!). There is a lot to do for those of us in our 20's  and as jab3da said, plenty of people your age. I agree it's very clean and it's a good location right in between St. Louis and Kansas City.

Also, Independence, Lees Summit, Blue Springs, etc are all good suburbs of Kansas City. Lots of new areas being developed so everything feels NEW and fresh.

Are ya cute?

If yes, then forget KC and come visit me in Topeka, KS.

JUST KIDDING! I'm happily married.... And Topeka is BORRRRRING for us younger folks. Topeka is home and KC is the playground for me.

The Plaza is DEFINATELY the place for a young single person!!!!! Kansas City has SO much to offer....I was a Flight Attendant for 17 years and have seen quite a lot of places and lived in just as many.....Take it from me, you want to live on The Plaza!

In the interest of nursing, you have many choices as far as hospitals are concerned if you are on The Plaza....

Good luck and if you have any questions please feel free to pm me!!!

The plaza is nice, but beware....it's very expensive. Some friends of mine currently live there in a two bedroom apartment that rents for $1,200 a month. Now personally I think they are out of their mind to pay that much for the tiny apartment that they share (trust me, it is small) but I guess they like it, they can walk to the bars. But grocery stores, movie theaters and places to rent movies, malls, etc, are all a drive. Not much, really, 15-20 minutes at a good time, so really it's going to be all about how much you enjoy convenience and how much you're willing to spend.

True, there is not a grocery on the Plaza anymore, but a few 10 minutes away. There is a movie theatre with maybe 6 screens. My twin sister , who has worked 17 years for a law firm on the Plaza lived behind the Capital Grille in one of the many charming apartments for 595.00 per month. I lived in the area known as "The Peanuts" which are turn- of -the -century Four -plex for cheap. Two blocks south of the Plaza. What I'm saying is that there is lots of variety......it just takes persistence to find what you want, and once again please pm with any questions!!!
