You told me so....

I went to my interview with Maxim yesterday...I knew I would be offered lower pay, but wow. I figured I'd check it out myself, it couldnt hurt, all I loss was a little time. After filling out the paperwork, and taking a short test, I talked to the guy.

The offer pretty much was private nursing pediatric. He could not guarantee me full time amount of hours(to be honest, it sounded like I'd be lucky for 2 days) This is not what he told me on the phone. Strike one.

Strike two...he started out at 16-16.50 an hour. I told him that was no good. He said ok, but I cant go much higher than 17. Because these are medicaid pt, and medicaid doesnt pay like medicare does. He also told me that it was the going rate for medicaid in the area, and I looked at him in the face and said "No it is not". LOL He was kind of thrown by that by the look in his face. I told him no, I couldn't do it, and got up and walked out.

Yeah I know, I was told so...but I'm the type that needs to see for myself. (not that I don't trust anyone, but still) I walked in there with the mind set that I probably would not accept the job. I might have considered it, if I knew I could get full time...at least temporarily.

Anyways, there is something else in the works that will work out EXACTLY what I want...so we will see.

Morningmom,

Are you a LPN or RN? In the Midwest, Medicaid reimburses a different rate for each. I work for a Medicaid only agency and can use either to staff a case. If I staff with a LPN, the reimbursement is less and vice versa. Unless it is different where you live, I think they were really giving you a line of BS.

LPNs can get $19 an hour for Medicaid cases easily when the employer wants to pay it. Maxim just prefers to see if they can get a dummy to work for $14 to $16, and desperate or unknowledgable people fall for their line of BS.

BTW congrats to you for sticking up for respect for yourself. If more people would do so, it would make a difference. I notice they pay the higher rates when it suits them. If one can get a decent paycheck, everyone can. That is how an employer builds a good reputation.
