25 YO w/ toddler & 35 wks pregnant...Help w/ classes for next semester?

hello all,

i just want some opinions on how to schedule next semester. spring (jan 2011) is coming so fast and classes are up. i am a 25 yo with a son who will be 3 yrs jan 7th and i am due with my second dec 13. i do plan on continuing my pre reqs this spring, but am not sure which classes to take. i don't want to over do it and stress myself with adjusting to having 2 kids, but i don't want to doubt myself and fall behind. i know eventually i will get to where it is i want to be so should i take it easy this next semester and get used to my new life; while still taking classes, but easier pre reqs rather than getting the tougher ones out of the way first, which was my plan, or just continue with the sciences and maths, which i consider are the tough ones?

i planned on taking anatomy and my last required math, math is my weakness so it will be tough. or should i take just one harder class and and one easy class? i think i may only do 2 classes at a time until i can get used to studying and make sure my grades don't fall.

so i know there are plenty of parents who have been in this situation so wwyd or what did you do?

oh, this will be my second semester or pre reqs also.

thanks all.

You didnt say whether you are working or not, but I will assume you are not. Do you have family support or daycare to study? The baby will be about 6 weeks old when you go back? If it was me I would only take 1 class period, easy or hard. Anatomy can be like a full time job depending on what teacher you get. I must have put in 30 hours per week on that one last summer and I was not in an accelerated class.

Two is a whole other world than one. As Anne36 wondered, are you alone, lots of family, working, not...all play into it, but I would agree one max, and probably better an easier class - definitely not A&P!

Girl you can do anything. I just had a baby 5 months ago, have a 3.5 year old, and work part time. I worked till 2 weeks before I delivered my daughter and went to school full time. I worked overnight though from 10-4am and then slept from 5-11am then got up and spent time with my son while I was still pregnant and took classes in the later evening. Some I was lucky enough to take online. As long as you stay positive and are focused you can do it. I did. Now my baby is born and I need to finish up a semester of pre-reqs and I'm all done and ready to apply. I also just finish take a phlebotomy course just so I could get extra points for the nursing program I'm applying to but also to gain some experience on what it's like to work in a hospital. My clinical rotation was 3 days a week 5am-5pm and I still kept my job on top of going to school. I still found time to do everything.

My advice is stay positive. You can do it. You're a mom, you can do anything lol at least that's how I see it. Nobody is a better at multitasking then a mother.

It really all depends on you and your situation. I was due during spring semester finals week, took 7 units on-line in the summer and then 14 units in the Fall (Chemistry, Logic, Speech, & History). I wasn't working but did have 3 other kids at home (4, 6, & 18). I really pushed my self because I was laid off after my maternity leave ended and figured I should take advantage of not having a job...it would be much harder and take longer if I was working around a work schedule.

Also if you have the discipline to do so, take as many of the classes you can take on-line. It allows you to be at home more and often do work when you can fit it in to your daily schedule. I most often do my home work from 10pm to 3am.
