over 2 years since graduation, finally passed NCLEX need advice!

Published

Hello,

I graduated in 2016, took some time and moved myself to BC from ON.

I had a close family member die while in 2nd year of nursing school, but pushed through to graduation but felt the need to take a couple months to myself before committing to the NCLEX and nursing.

It took me 2 years to finally get the NCLEX, i went through failing it and re-studying multiple times. But I believe failure is only when you totally give up! So now i am a RN, working casual in a Long term setting. BUT i want to get back into the hospital or something a little more medical.

The thing is, i feel rusty on my skills and knowledge (even though i probably know more than i think). I just feel a bit anxious and super new again because its been over 2 years since i had acute medical patients. I really really want to get my career on track and feel a bit stumped. I looked up RN re-fresher courses but i was unsure what route to go?

Anyone have any suggestions? I know you get orientation when hired but i want to feel safe and prepared when i get back into it.

thank-you :)
