Hi! anybody here, graduated 14 years and was trying to take the Nclex?I just want to know if I'm not alone, cause I've been trying to battle the test and on my 2nd try but couldn't make it. Now I feel so, disappointed, down and upset about it. Feels like I never learned anything, now I feel so scared to take the test again and find out that I failed. Have you done a refresher course? I am sure things will have changed if you graduated 14 years ago

Don't despair!! There are people who have done it and who are trying to do it right now. I'm one of them. I graduated in '99, tested and failed once in '00. It took me this long to build up enough courage to even try.

I'm currently following Suzanne's plan with the Saunders book and have been studying since June. I planned to test in Dec. but having a hard time finding a nursing board which will approve me because of my long absence.

I've learned a lot over the past few months. Maybe even more than what I originally learned years ago. I don't feel totally prepared YET but I'm not giving up. You shouldn't either!!

Best of luck!!

Thanks! Matilda50 and congratulations...I just started doing Suzanne's plan hope it will for me.Also Many thanks to lvlytxn for your words of encouragement. Hope I would make it on my next test..God Bless you guys!!!!

I also graduated in 1999 after failing four times I gave up!!!! Well now I am back and ready to face anything that gets in my way!!! I will be taking the test November 29 for the fifth and PRAY final time, but if I don't I WANT GIVE UP THIS TIME!!!! I WILL BE AN RN SOONER OR LATER..... JUST PRAY IT IS SOONER!!!!

WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!

TRUST IN THE LORD!!! I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST THAT STRENGTHENS ME!!!!

CLAIM IT CAUSE IT WILL BE ALL YOURS!!!

Refresher Course? u mean review centers? Is there any school or facilities that I can enroll to just to do some of the clinical practices and some subject I need to refresh with?

I recommend the Kaplan course. It was such a big help for me, and will be a good refresher too with the book. I think its great you are not giving up!! Lots of luck!!!

I also passed w/ Suzannes plan 2 weeks ago. It was my 2nd try. You can pass it no matter if its been 14 yrs or not. If u have to take a refresher course, then so be it. I have friends that had to take one after 2 yrs. As far as your study for the test, I recommend Suzannes plan mainly cause its free and secondly cause I used it and passed on my 2nd attempt. Everyone is scared and its normal to think that u are gonna fail again. Its up to u to change that frame of mind and think positive. Suzannes plan will help restore your confidence. Im so glad I used it.

Some states require a refresher course if you have been out of nursing for a long time and 14 years much has changed. Nothing to do with review courses

Thanks tflorn you're encouragement is so nice, currently doing Suzanne's plan hope it helps, to Silverdragon I'm in California I already had my authorization to take the test so I don't think refresher course is necessary but I'm thinking of doing Kaplan review...Thanks again tflorn!!!!

no problem. i know that using her plan helped me pass and if you do it exactly as she has stated, you will pass too. i was a 2nd time test-taker and i had my doubts but thanks to it i am a rn. everything i was tested on came from the saunders book and cd. there was not 1 subject that i was not familiar with that i could not use the process of elimination and answer. take your time and dont rush. if you take your time, the knowledge to answer the question will come. best luck to you. -tflorn
