Is there any school in Manila or in any nearby province that offers refresher course?

I was advised to enroll in one (if there is) since after graduation in 2007 I was not able to work in a hospital but in a call center.. I'm currently confused on how and where to start.

Any suggestions on how can i get back on track?

Thanks in advance!

If i where you ill read my Nursing fundamentals handbook for a week or two FUNDAMENTALS is the basic thing we apply in actual nursing practice. While reading you can look for a hospital to volunteer into. You don't need a refresher course in my opinion hands on nursing experience is better than theories or lectures.

Hi. Under the revised nursing law RA 9173, a registered nurse should take a refresher course only if he has not practiced his profession for 5 straight years after being a registered member of the professional body. They have one in PGH and the program is called Clinical Nursing Enhancement Program and 3 years of not working as a nurse automatically disqualifies you for the program. You may want to just try the Advanced Practice in Clinical Nursing instead which accepts any registered nurses that may or may not have any hospital work experience for less than 5 years.

Like you, I have been working in a call center for almost 2 years now and I just started attending essential skills enhancement seminars like IV training and BLS. I was so afraid at first that I have totally forgotten everything about nursing but that's really not the case...eventually as you reopen your books, the things you learned in school will come rushing in one by one. Just take it easy, read whatever you can and in no time you will be reoriented to nursing.

Is the Advanced Practice in Clinical Nursing program offered by PGH as well?

It was a relief to get some advice from someone who was on the same boat at some point in time.

Great to hear that you surpass the test starting at square one. Its my turn this time. :)

Yes at the moment, I have not heard of any other hospitals that offer APCN. I've first learned about that upon reading the PGH thread. Just recently I've been thinking that I've wasted 2 years of my life by doing nothing...but then I've come to realize that despite the current situation for nurses in our country, many students are still taking nursing and unlike others who are yet to be qualified to truly practice it, we who are already registered nurses are just one step away from getting to where we should really be. I'm positive that it'll all be okay. :D
