So I have done my time in the SNF for a year. Started out just to have a job and turned into the best learning and basic-skill defining experience I could ask for. Now I am starting on a med/surg tele floor on tomorrow and am so excited and nervous I'm beside myself ! Any Advice?
Ps. thought I would post this here for other new nurses to be able to see and read :)

Tele is my thing- If ya have any questions, lemme know.
1) I would say def hang onto (or borrow/buy if you got rid of) a basic interventions book. Yeah some skills are the same, but you typically do more in an acute hospital stay than you do in a SNF.
2) Also, a EKG interpretation book is a good idea. Tele has a lot to do with rythyms, and just staring at the monitor for hours on end won't really help you with differentiating them... here's a link to my favorite that you can get off amazon: http://www.amazon.com/ECG-Interpretation-Made-Incredibly-Easy/dp/1608312895/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1314759666&sr=8-1
3) Ask questions! If you don't know, ask. Its hard to learn just by watching (for me anyway).
4) Stay organized. A good report sheet helps make the whole shift get started off right and flow alot smoother. Having different patients each time you come to work will probably be a lot different for you comign from a SNf background...
