Yale GEPN Fall 2010

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

Okay, I know it's early, but Yale is my first choice, and I'm already terrified that I'm going to screw it up. My goal is New England (although I'm also applying to Pace because they have this Science Summer thing for those of us who haven't taken anatomy yet), and I want to be a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner.

I eventually want to either have a mobile clinic for poorer older folks who can't afford more traditional options or who are home-bound, or make home-calls in some other way.

I think Yale will help me get there, but I don't think I'll get in. I have a lower GPA (but still above a 3.0) from UC Santa Cruz, and I spent the last two years teaching in Taiwan, only to find out I don't like teaching very much. I'm taking my GREs in three weeks and I'm starting some prereqs this summer.

I'm also applying to Simmons, Pace, Northeastern, MGH and Boston College.

Before I ramble on any longer, anyone else applying?

Specializes in Peds, Med-Surg, Disaster Nsg, Parish Nsg.

while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

Hey guys!

I just discovered this thread! I also applied (FNP) and am anxiously awaiting news about interviews. I'm surprised we haven't heard yet! AAHHH!

I don't think I've ever looked forward to a Monday this much in my whole life haha! This wait is absolutely killing me haha

Hi Everyone!

I am also excited about finding out tomorrow, one way or the other. Good luck to everyone! Hope to see each of you on campus soon :)

What's really frustrating is that this is the only time I can check my email today! I have to wait until 2 am California time!

I am a CNM candidate and just found out re: GEPN interview this morning. The decision was sent via email at 8:56 am EST. Best of luck to everyone and I hope this will put your minds at ease that all this waiting will be over soon. Hope to see some of you in January!

Nothing yet here!

Got an email!! Good luck to you guys as well :)

Congrats Rowan!

Hey guys I got the e-mail this morning around 10 (east coast). I got an interview! Mine is scheduled for the 29th! Is anyone else going for the PMH specialty?

Also, last year there was talk of a potluck. Has anyone heard/know about that?

Lasty, would anyone like to meet up the night before? I know some students did that last year from allnurses.

So many questions ahh, I'm just really excited right now!

Good luck and I hope to meet all of you!

I'm on the west coast and haven't received anything yet!!! :(

On east coast and I haven't heard yet.....I wonder if there is any sort of rhyme or reason in how they send out emails.... this is really killing me.

I know, it's killing me too! I wonder if they send out by specialty? I applied for Family Nurse Practitioner specialty...anyone else heard from this specialty?...I am sooooooo nervous! and Congrats to those that have heard already:)
