Xavier MIDAS vs. DePaul MENP Fall 2017

Published

Hi, I was accepted to both the Xavier MIDAS and DePaul MENP programs for Fall 2017. Does anyone have any information that could be helpful in deciding between the two? I know that Xavier has a CNL component which is plus, but I just want to make sure I have adequate information on both to make the right decision! Thanks!

I went to depaul. I'd focus soley on price honestly. A cnl really doesn't mean much (according to friends that went to rush and got the cnl). I had a good experience at depaul but it was mostly due to an epically awesome cohort. I liked the faculty too. It's pricey though. #poorforlife. Feel free to pm me any questions.

Have you looked into any ABSN programs? I opted for this over the direct entry masters because of time and money. I was accepted into both types of programs. When you graduate with your masters you will get paid the same as a BSN new grad. (at least this is what I have been told) The masters' programs are longer and more expensive than the ABSN programs. Just a thought.

It won't let me pm you for some reason so if you don't mind me asking a few questions. How long ago was it that you were in the program? What were it's strengths and weaknesses? Also how was the quarter system for you? I've read some discouraging posts on here about the program regarding disorganization and professors who don't care, but I really love Chicago so I'm trying to hear some other experiences.

I applied to two ABSN programs and was denied from one and waitlisted at the other so these are currently my only options unless I wait another year and apply again!

I graduated last year. I really only had one professor that sucked. I had some really great clinical instructors. Quarters are fine. I really didn't think it mattered. For any program you get out what you put in. I wasn't a big studier honestly, but I felt I learned.

Okay cool thanks! One last question, which neighborhoods or area of the city do you suggest for living?

Xavier has the new ABSN program starting this May (my class) and another starting this Fall. If you were accepted into the MIDAS you would most definitely get accepted into the ABSN but I would check with your adviser just to double check. It's brand new and even has a new facility that we get with it. It's still expensive around 50k but still worth a shot since it is only 16 mos!
