Xavier has the new ABSN program starting this May (my class) and another starting this Fall. If you were accepted into the MIDAS you would most definitely get accepted into the ABSN but I would check with your adviser just to double check. It's brand new and even has a new facility that we get with it. It's still expensive around 50k but still worth a shot since it is only 16 mos!

I just got accepted into a ABSN program! What I did is I choose what I would consider my first choice of school and looked at the prereqs needed. After that I looked at schools that had the most similar prereqs so that I could stay on track and save as much money as possible. Luckily I got into my first choice.

I am taking Micro online with a lab through Portage Learning, it is accredited through Geneva college. My ABSN program accepts this and you can finish everything on your own time so you can drag the course out as long as a year or complete it in as close to 8 weeks. It is also very affordable compared to University as well. Def check with your school programs if they would accept those kind of courses though.

Thank you all! Yes I have great support system and do not need to worry about money etc for the program. I am excited to be challenged again as I am very bored at my call center job now. I was just scared nursing is as horrible as people say. I love long hours and night shift, helping people and critical thinking so I know I would have to at least like the job a little bit. I think I will love it though!

I mean I've handled high amounts of stress before. I fell behind my freshman year so my completed my junior and senior year with no summer break. My last two semesters I took 21 credit hours while doing another internship and working third shift. I'm not worried about the program being difficult but more so everyone makes it seem like being a nurse is horrible.

I am looking to start and accelerated BSN program this May. I have been announcing to everyone how excited I am etc about the program. Every single response I get back is are you sure you want to do that? Can you handle all the stress of being a nurse? Goodluck with that field? I am just feeling depressed about my decision because I've wanted to be a nurse for a long time. I love helping people plus the face paced and challenging atmosphere. My bachelors is in Exercise Science and worked in Cardiac Rehab before. Is it really that horrible being a nurse? Even on some blogs here I read are depressing. Just looking for some uplifting news that I'm making the right choice.

Thank you for the information about CORP they certainly do not tell you that stuff when you google information about it. Also thank you for the breakdown. I'm thinking about doing traveling when possible to help pay down the debt.

Yes that was my ideal goal since I worked in a rehab unit before and I only made $12 and nurses made almost triple that! I have heard corp is working for a hospital in need for nurses and they agree to pay back some of your loans. What really makes me not look elsewhere is I already have all the prereqs and every other accelerated program requires 3 or 4 more which is an extra semester which I'm trying to avoid. Would the money be worth the time? I'm about to turn 24 and really want to be in the nursing field for a few years before settling down! Marriage, kids, etc..

I currently have my bachelor's and have about 17k debt from Federal loans. My degree was in Exercise Science and there are NO jobs in my surrounding area pertaining to that field or education. (No personal training for me please.) I have always been interested in doing nursing and I'm in a place in my life I can go back to school but only for a short period of time. I am looking to the the accelerated BSN program with Xavier which will be 16 months long but cost 53k. How realistic is it for me to not be struggling with this debt after I graduate? I live with my boyfriend who makes good money but I do not want to rely on him after I have my nursing license. Anyone know of any nursing CORP hospital programs around the Cincinnati area or any advice with nurses who have that similar amount of debt? Such as how much payments might be?! I'm open to all options!
