So I'm in my second year of school and have within the last year decided to become a nurse. My first year of college I came in at the top of my class carrying a lot of AP credit and having received many scholarships. But my first year of college my GPA ended up far less than stellar with two Ws (2.5). Between being in the wrong course of study and a bout of mono , it just didn't go very well. Since then I took a step back and I enrolled in EMT school, where I finished with top marks and solid recommendation from my instructors. However I am in a position where life has again derailed me and am looking at receiving a C (I'm trying very hard to ensure it goes no lower) in my A&P class. I've been thinking that I need to withdraw, take the semester off, and then try again in a semester or two while I work as an EMT to learn and gain my footing, but I'm concerned that my application is going to look flaky and I will seriously harm my chances at getting into nursing school when I do apply. I know this profession is where I belong and I am a solid EMT, but my track record academically doesn't show that too well. Do I take the W and the time off? Do I keep trying? Have I ruined my chances already?
