Hello, I would like to know if you have had experience with submitting articles to nursing journals. Is Nursing 2005 new-writer friendly? What other journals should a beginning writer target? I am thinking more of human interest, hands-on nursing care articles, not academic/research articles.

Any tips would be most welcome! Thanks!

Hello, pearls33,

Hmmm. I haven't had direct experience with Nursing '05. Might be a good place to start. I know many of these journals will allow you to write, but, will make you sign a waver that any and all articles are their property. That will be something to consider and get legal advice.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist is a good journal. I have seen many "pearls" in these journals from almost every specialty. It is an advanced practice journal, but, utilized by all specialities of nursing. Try contacting them for information.

Specializes in Gerontological, cardiac, med-surg, peds.

Best wishes to you :)

Some suggestions, go to Guidelines for Authors before you start your article. It gives lots of good advice. Then go ahead and write and submit the artilce. If they like the idea, they will work with you. "Upper-Tier" journals won't do this. In your cover letter, you might mention that you are a new writer.

Also, try teaming up the first time with someone who's published before. I teamed up with one of my faculty for my first article and have been writing ever since!!

Specializes in Vents, Telemetry, Home Care, Home infusion.
Advance for Nurses newbie friendly too from my experience.
