wrist watch, fob watch or lanyard watch?

Published

I am a nursing student and I'm about to go on my first placement. I was wondering what watch I should wear. I was concerned that wrist watches pose possible infection risks, also worried about it catching on elderly clients skin.

Are lanyard watches a good idea or do they get in the way?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

Fob, you can always pin it inside your pocket to avoid scratching someones eye out

good luck

Thanks everyone.

I've finished my placement. I can't get over how much I enjoyed it!

I did'nt have time to buy a watch for this placement so I just kept my wrist watch in my pocket. I think I'll get a fob watch for my next placement though.

Thanks again for all the advice, much appreciated :)

I have tried all three over the years - found the most useful and economical to be a wrist watch - which I take off and put in my pocket during patient moves or showering etc. Lanyards hang around to much, fobs always seemed to be in the way/pulling the shirt down (plus cost a fortune). You by now have already got your own opinions on how your watch performed. Congrats on having fun and keep going....
