My daughter has been on a wound vac for several months for a sacral pressure wound. She has spina bifida and is a paraplegic with neurogenic bowel and bladder. The wound is clean and has been healing well. It has always drained a lot, but now she is in a new rehab center. They don't know much about the vac, and it has not had any drainage in the 3 days since she has been admitted here. There is suction and the vac is working, but why is there not a drop of drainage? The nurse supervisor has never done a vac before and I'm afraid it is not packed properly. They are using a Pro II with black foam dressing. Any thoughts would be appreciated. No one here knows anything. Thanks for any ideas you might have.

This really is a concern that you need to take up with the nsg admin at that facility. And you can talk with your dtr's PMP.
