Hey everyone thought i would see if anyone can give me some new ideas. Im having difficulty getting an ostomy appliance to stay on. The skin surrounding is not intact and quite moist with exudate. Ive tried crusting with skin prep and stoma powder, stoma paste, abosrbant dressings, tegaderm, ect ect. Im out of ideas! Anyone have any ideas for something different to try?

Ugh! Sounds tough!
But how about prepping well with non-sting skin prep, then using a hydrocolloid (Exuderm, Duoderm, etc)? Might be worth a try.
Have tried all that stuff. The drainage isnt BM but bile, so the acid just eats through those kinds of dressings. Ugh i think ive tried every kind of dressing we stock

Do you have any protective barriers like the Coolplast Brava protective sheet? Those might solve the problem....

Usually when I am stuck I consult the Enterostomal nurses. They usually have some nifty tricks/appliances that aren't on our floor.
