I currently work in a clinic M-F 7:30-4:30. I have a PRN job where I work every Tuesday and Friday night from 11pm-3am on call. I just got exciting news that my PRN job extended me an offer to make me a permanent position Wednesday-Saturday nights from 11pm-7am. This is in a field of nursing I absolutely love. I'm dreading the hours, however. Would you make the switch, based on your love for the field? I would quit my clinic position of course.

I would make the switch (and I have). You don't know until you try it. If you hate it, or cannot function on night shift (many of us can't) would you be able to transition to something else?

I am better at giving advice on decisions than making decisions. One common way is using numbers to rate taking the new job, or staying where you are. Evaluateyour reasons and feelings 1 to 10, fairly. The unpleasant hours vs benefits of new job, over keeping current job. The nights would disturb your sleep too much? But if you are young and flexible, maybe you can endure it. Only you can decide. So many things to consider so list them in order of importance, with numbers and add up pro and con . I am not a math person, but I do it myself
. Can you take job for 1 year or modify the hours?
