Hi All,

I was wondering what options people had as far as paying for nursing school. Also, has anyone gotten their loans paid for as a sign on bonus when being hired after becoming an RN?

Thanks!

Consider a community college. They are difficult to get into in MA due to the volume of applications. But if money is an issue and you can get in, it's a great way to go. The cost is a fraction of a private school, and you can cover the entire cost (including books if you need to) in loans. Often they have lots of small scholarships available which can help a little, too.

I agree! thats what i did. i'm now out of school debt free and i'm doing my bsn on-line (also cheaper than traditional class). most institutions have a reimburstment program of some sort so even if you do have a little debt u'll have it payed off in no time! i highly recommend the community college way...good luck!

I agree with the ASN route. Get your Associates, take the NCLEX, work as an RN and then get your employer to pay for your BSN. You can find some great RN to BSN programs at state schools that are super cheap and most hospitals have tuition reimbursement after 6 months of employment that will pay for that BSN.

I work with many nurses who have student loans, many! One girl I spoke with yesterday has $104,000 in loans :crying2: I'm sorry, but that is crazy. Especially since we have the same degree - both ASNs, hers from a private college, mine from community college (with no loans). My entire degree cost $7k.
