worried net score

Published

Hi guys

I took the net and i'm very worried. I applied for Dorothea Hopfer School of Nursing in MT Vernon N.Y. my score was 61% reading and 90% math. Compsit score was 76%. Did anyone take the net? Can you please share scores with me? Does anyone know the average score of people who got in. Just want to know if i'm in good standing. I really hate this waiting game. I need some sort of answers now lol.:uhoh3:

P.S. i'm applying for the evening program.

Hello! I took the NET in August. I got a 95 on the math and 70 on reading. The school I applied to has a minimum 59 and 55 score requirement, respectively. The only problem is that over 800 people have taken the NET for 60-70 spots available. We're supposed to find out by 10/20, so I'm not sure if those are good enough. It came out to be the 90th percentile, btw. Good luck to you!!! This is such a stressful time of checking the mailbox every day!

Hi Somedayanurse. I'm so glad you answer my post. I'm a nervous reck. I don't know if my scores are good enough now that I saw yours. Accourding to my school standards they are looking for 55% reading. I really don't know what they want for the math. I scored 90%. The test proctor told us they are looking more at the reading score, because the school rather have strong readers that mathametician. I scored a 61% on the reading. From asking around people who took the test with me had the same problem I had the could not finish in the time provided. I was one of the few that got furthest in the test. I answered 23 out of 33 questions. I hope I did better than most of the people who took the test with me. My score is above average but like yourself I face the same problem. A lot of people took the exam and there is only 35 slots available. Please! Please! Please! pray for me, send me good energy and wish me luck. I will be doing the same on my end for you.

It's such a nerve-wracking process. You're in my prayers!

Hi - I got a 100 on the math and an 85 on the reading. This resulted in a composite of 93. I got in to a competitive program. I heard that as long as you are over 75 composite, you are strong. Each school is different of course.

Thanks for your response spankygirl. I guess I just have to wait and see if i'm in. I will be taking the TEAS for another school next month if I don't get into this one. Although the school of my first choice is more convenient for me begars can't be chooser. If you know what I mean. lol!:specs:

OMG you made me laugh calling me spankygirl. :)

Ha! Thats funny, Spankygirl!!

Anyways~ wow, you guys are so lucky because my school requires at least a 70 on the reading to get in. And even thats not good enough (for my school) because its very competitive and there are few slots open each fall. The first time i took it, I got a horrible 55 on reading! I took it again and greatly improved (to a 67) but still wasnt good enough. So i took it a third time, and FINALLY passed with a 73 in reading. (But since I didnt wait 6 weeks in between, i have to Retake it next week, UGG!) But, for the program i am trying to get into, i hear that your okay with an 85 composite.

~But like Spankygirl (;)) said, every school is different. This test is SO stressful!!! I will keep you in my prayers as well.....Good luck with everything!

OMG! I can't believe they put us through all this mess to get into a program as if the program itself is not stressful enough. No wonder there is a shortage in nurses. I'm so sorry you had to take that test 3 times. That would drive me insane. Anyway I guess you have to do what you have to do in order to pusue your dream. I always wanted to be a nurse that is what keeps me going. I will keep you in my prayers as well and best of luck getting in. You deserve it.

I'm glad I made you laugh. We all need a good laugh from time to time. I call you spankygirl only because I don't know your real name, so I call you by your handle. lol:chuckle

Wow okay am totally not in. I got a composite score of 67. All of you guys got such high composite score. I am praying that my recommendation letter, essay and short answers weigh in heavily on their decision. The required score for me school is 64 composite, however, I do know that it's competitive.

I really don'tthink that an Entrance Exam should be so stressful.

words of encouragement please :(

As far as I can tell from the nursing school entrance exam study guides I've looked at, the NET has an unusually difficult reading section. I was getting in the 75% range for reading on the practice tests I took when studying for the TEAS, though reading is usually my strong point and I ended up getting 99% on the reading section of the TEAS.

So try not to feel too bad - a "high score" may well be lower than you think.
