Worried about not getting hired

Published

Hey all! I just signed up here just to ask this question, to be honest. I'm 20 years old and I've never had an official job before. I'm graduating in Spring and I'm really worried about not being able to get hired since I have no prior experience. Do you all think I should apply for externing? I wanted to work over the Summer as an extern, but with COVID it just wasn't possible for me. I'd be grateful for any advice, thank you!

Specializes in school nurse.

I would get a job sooner than later in some sort of healthcare setting. COVID has changed things, but there are still possibilities.

Possibilities are highly dependent on the job market where you live, unless you're able and willing to move. In some areas, having a foot in the door does nothing to guarantee that you'll be hired on as a nurse after graduation. In other areas, hospital representatives may come to your school and try to recruit you even before you graduate.
