I start the BSN program at Lamar University next month and I am thinking about sitting for my CNA certification after I am done with my first semester.
Will this get me the "1-2 years of experience required" that most employers look for from applicants?

It could get your foot in the door at a hospital but when they look for experience it's generally as a nurse. You still have to go up against other RNs. It will look good but might not necessarily get you the job.
