Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I am enrolled in physiology, nutrition and speech for next semester. Do you suggest working full time in addition the these classes?

Specializes in ED, Medicine, Case Management.

You are the only one who can determine your capacity to work and go to school full time. I took a full load including A&P and was quite successful. Provided you manage your time well I see no reason why you cannot do both. Good luck to you.

Okay, thank you. I guess I just needed some reinforcement. I'll apply if it gets to difficult I can always quit.

As what was said by previous poster only you will be able to determine if you will be able to handle a full class load and working full time. One of the biggest keys I found to being successful with school and work is keeping yourself organized. I have worked out a system of dry erase boards, bulletin boards and a weekly planner to help with keeping things organized. Also with physiology you are going to want to make sure you are reading the material daily, reading over the material and taking notes before going over the info in class I found to be extremely helpful. This way you are already familiar with the info being covered in class and in lab, allowing you to focus more on the key information that you need to know, or things that may have been confusing while reading before class. Also review your class notes after class that same day to help retain information. Physiology is more than just memorizing things like anatomy, it requires understanding the concepts of how things work. Good luck with your upcoming semester.

I think it depends on yourself and your job more than anything. I made the plan of trying to work but I will quit if it interferes with school (graduated December/14). I was able to bartend 4 nights a week (about 33.5hrs) through the pre reqs and get straight As. Wasn't able to keep this up in nursing school though. Cut back to 2 nights a week for the first year and no more straight As. The final year of nursing school I had to cut back further to one night a week.

40hrs + that schedule will suck. Probably doable but won't be much fun.

It wasn't always easy but I'm really glad I graduated debt free.
