Working from overseas as a legal nurse consultant?

Hello.

I want to be a legal nurse who can work completely online (on the Internet), or from books at home, so that I can eventually live in a distant country, and do my legal nurse work via USA, while actually living in a remote location.

Although I'm presently working in Michigan, I hope to be able to base myself to be able to work via other states, possibly California and Florida and Texas, which appear to have greater needs for legal nurse consultants. Is California the highest paying state?

I'm guessing that doing abstracts of medical literature is the most adaptable form of legal nurse consulting. Do you think this is a valid assumption?

Of the many branches of legal nurse consulting, e.g. medical malpractice, personal injury, or any other, which do think are most suitable for the purpose of being able to the whole job from a remote location, without having to be there in person?

With respect to whatever subfield or category you suggest, which books, journals for courses would be most suitable and more specific for reaching this goal?

Who else could I or should I also contact for more information about this goal?

Are you aware of any good journal articles or other articles about this hope of working completely remotely?

Would you recommend I contact any particular companies and government departments first?

Am I my barking up the wrong tree altogether? If so, which tree would you recommend barking up? In other words, what field of work can be done complete the remotely?

To let you know more about me, I'm an RN with a two-year diploma. I also have a four-year bachelor's degree in anthropology. I understand, speak, read and write Spanish as a second language. For the last several years I've worked in private duty nursing. I've a number of years of psych experience. A number of years ago, I did work in a nursing home and also in a hospital. I am presently during a review study of nursing, at home, on my own -- presently focusing on obstetrics.

Identifying Medical Malpractice, by Jack Schroeder, attorney,

not sure what you mean?...."completely online". do you mean only communication would be via email? no fax, phone, snail mail, etc.?? if you are consulting regarding cases, many attorney-clients will want you to organize, tab and paginate the mr as part of the case as well as review the mr for merit. some will not have email capabilities to get these records to you soley via email. something to consider. you would be limited in some situations.

you can stay in michigan and work with any client in any state. no need for re-location. and, what do you mean, "is california the highest paying state?" highest in what respect? your fee? litigation pay-out/settlements? not sure to what you are referring here.....?

again, i'm not certain i understand, "abstracts of medical literature". if you mean, conductiing literature research, then, yes, but, that is only a very very small part of what the lnc can offer the client. please elaborate on this if you will.

there isn't one "branch" of the lnc career that is more suitable to "remote" work. as i said, you can live in one state and have clients in the other 49.

you can check online for educative material that can help prepare you for your role as lnc. the aalnc (www.aalnc.org) is a good source for material.

i suggest, imho, that you recieve formal training as lnc. that would greatly help to prepare you for this career. there are two of which i endorse: the aalnc online program; see lilnk above, and the vickie milazzo program (www.legalnurse.com). i also suggest you join an lnc organization such as the aalnc. networking with other lncs is a plus.
