Working in the hospital before you get into clinicals?

I have heard that a lot of hospitals will let you work even before you get into clincals but I was wondering if anyone had success getting hired and do you have any advice? I would like to get some experience beforehand.

Yeah my job is self scheduling too. Right now I'm just working Thursdays for 8 hours a day. I'm hoping to be starting my nursing program on August 31st, but I'm still #1 on the waiting list so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for now. Eek!

Well I went for my peer interview yesterday and everything went great I am pretty sure I got the job but I know for sure on monday. I will be a scrub tech for labor and delivery which is where I was hoping to work when I graduate. I am so excited.
