Working at Group Health

Specializes in Medical Telemetry.

I'll be honest, the only reason I'd consider working at Group Health is because they are within a few blocks from my house, so no parking, buses, etc. I know patients tend to love them or hate them, but does anyone have any experience working for them? I've looked, and no one has really said anything one way or another.

I am in the process of applying for jobs, and I'd like some input as to whether or not I should apply here as a new grad RN. Do they offer residency programs, what's the nurse tp pt ratio, typical shift hours (5 8hr shifts or 3 12s, etc)? If anyone knows any of this info, I'd greatly appreciate it!

I did my clinical internship over there: Group Health Capitol Hill.

I shadowed the LPN in a pediatric out pt clinic. And the job is very light. Physical assessment when pt entering the room + vital signs...

Checking for immunization follow-ups...

Quite quiet over there!

RN: THe RN I saw working in the same office, I think, was an RN- telemetry. TYpically also admitting pt in (also outpatient- this is a clinic), doing the same assessment, answering the phone and helping them over the phone, which was telemetry.

I would love to work there, but I need some eperience first. But when you're an RN, I dont think you would have problem getting the job there!

I have worked at Group Health as an employee and Agency/Traveler, and I hated working for them in their clinics as an employee, but loved working in their hospital on the Eastside, and in the outpatient Gastro procedure clinic as a traveler. Also loved working as a triage nurse in their Northgate clinic. If they paid more, I would probably have went perm with them in those areas only. However I now make twice as much in one week, then I did in two weeks working perm with them.

Specializes in LTC, SCI/TBI Rehab,RX Research, Psych.

Lots of changes are going on within GHC right now...with the closure of the Eastside Hospital & the division of the Eastside Primary Care Clinic. There will be 2 new clinics, one in Bellevue, near Overlake Hospital & the other off Redmond Way, near the KFC.

There are lots of streamlining processes going on--and they're heavily applying the "Lean Process" used by Toyota Corp. across the co-op.

Research 'Lean Process'....then proceed once informed.
