I'm quite confused at this time.. please enlighten me....
I have been given 2 options: to apply for an H1B visa for US or a working visa for New Zealand, which the latter will make me an immigrant in less than a year..
Which country will I choose?
Help..... thank you very much...
- Not "everyone" knows that or believes it true. I am Australian and I have never lived in NZ - don't know a thing about how political and/or corrupt it may be; how would I?- Neither can anyone who hasn't worked in both countries decide the US has "more autonomy as a nurse" ... I have worked in both Australia and the US as a nurse and while they are different, I don't know that one is "more" autonomous, just different.
- The US has a much larger population and as such, prioritizes family-based immigration over employment-based. AU/NZ do the opposite due to small populations.. neither is more organized, they are just different due to different national priorities.
I hate to see the OP led astray by baseless comments from people who don't even know NZ.
I deeply apologize for the misunderstanding but it is just a fact that one nation is more political than the other and of course has very different priorities in terms of immigration, however everyone knows these simple facts it is just life.
I have worker with many aussies and UK trained nurses here in the U.S, as far as I know NZ is the least corrupt country in the world according to recent published studies, that is a just fact. I believe US will do like OZ and NZ pretty soon, this family thing will be obsolete , as the country will need highly skilled workers to help its economy. For EB1- PHD, scientists holders no worries these folks get their residency very quickly. Again, I ll find out very soon about the autonomy because I might be heading to OZ in 2010, and will have a much better idea for sure, then I ll let you know what I find out, okay.
Have a great new year
As I mentioned, I have worked in both countries so I am aware of the differences in practices between them.I would like to read the study you mentioned if you can reference it?[/QUote
Okay this is the website that mentions the research that is done yearly. 2009 New Zealand was the least corrupt nation, 2nd place was Denmark, USA is 19th at the moment. The study was done by TRANSPARENCY INTERNATIONAL ANNUAL CORRUPTION PERCEPTION INDEX- this reflects the perceived level of public sector corruption in a country.
Again these are just published research that is done yearly to evaluate corruption.
This is the link- http://www.thomaswhite.com/explore-the-world/postcard/2009/new-zealand-least-corrupt-country.aspx
It is just a fact.
What's a fact? I think it's silly to base one's opinion of a country on an article about "perceived" level of corruption. Anyhow, to each their own opinion!
It is still in my view that NZ political system is less corrupt, and I am sure that many others think the same, do an extensive research about the topic, you ll find out. I love both places do not have any problems at all. However, I am certain that this study is accurate. I cannot wait to get down there and experience it then of course I ll have a much better opinion about this topic, I ll keep you posted.

I read about it in a magazine while waiting to see my doctor about a year or so ago. I can't remember if it was National Geographic or TIME Magazine, something like that. I thought it was pretty interesting.
