Hi! I am looking at WOCN certification programs and wanted to get a better idea of the average salary of a certified WOCN before I commit to a $7k investment. Google gives me a rather wide range of results so I was hoping to get a more real-world example. I live in the Atlanta area. Thank you so much in advance for your input!

In the DC area, a few of the WOC Nurses I think have made between 37-48/hr at a few different locations in my area. Part will depend on your experience, and you may have to ask for (significantly) more than you expect. Some places pay the WOC nurses the same as other staff nurses (but our schedule can be better), others may even be salary!
Google returned this: "Things like location, education level, and experience will undoubtedly affect the salary of a WOC nurse. With that said, the median salary of a wound care nurse is $64,076 with a range of $41,701 - $83,160."
That being said, it should also depend on what you are interested in. I became certified a few years ago (need to renew now), but only recently started working as a WOC Nurse. I'm in a hospital, and I really enjoy what I'm doing. Everything from seeing the "coolest wounds in the hospital", to teaching classes for the new hires, making educational information, having a trickle of nursing students ? There's the other stuff, like accessing/using the database for NDNQI, conference calls about HAPIs...

Hi. Not sure about the pay in your area, but some wound care nurse jobs pay for your certification. Try applying for jobs before you invest in a program- you may find employers willing to pay.
