Question about Wisconsin nursing jobs

U.S.A. Wisconsin

Published

Hello

was hoping for a little help...

DH is originaly from WI, and hopes to relocate us there someday soon. Preference is for the northeast, north of Green Bay, in the Crivitz -Marinette and surrounding areas. We visited relatives up there this Thanksgiving, and I am in love with the area and look forward to moving there.

Not being from the area, I have no idea where to look to get an idea about potential employers. I'm an RN, 25+ yrs experience, mostly ED, a few other specialties (but those are long out of date), some dept and clinic mgmt experience.

Any suggestions? Would greatly appreciate any tips or words of wisdom you might share. Would consider a travel job just to help us get there if the oportunity was right-especially if it doesnt limit me from accepting full time employment when assignment complete. Wont know shift needed until he investigates his own opportunities further, but much prefer days. Will take a postion out of specialty if needs be.

Thanks in advance for considering my request

Laura

How far is Crivitz from Green Bay? I know St. Vincent's in Green Bay is hiring. Try doing a yahoo or google search for them.

Thanks, Heather.

I looked at their online position openings, didnt seem to be much...dont you have a nursing shortage in Wisconsin, like the rest of the country :) I was surprised to see so few postions posted, and mostly part time.

Its about 60 miles from Crivitz to Green Bay, which is just a little longer than I'd prefer, especially since my winter driving skills are so rusty!

It would figure my DH would choose someplace where I might have trouble getting a decent job! LOL, such is life.

Appreciate the help

Laura

Being an employee of a Ministry Health clinic, I would definitely recommend looking into one of their hospitals or clinics. I know there are some in your area. Check out their website (you'll have to search for it...I can't recall it off hand).

Good luck with your job search:)

Hi!

I'm a nursing student, and I live RIGHT in the middle of where you're looking to relocate. There is a town called Oconto Falls, which is about 15 minutes south of Crivitz, 30 mins south of Marinette, and 35 miles north of Green Bay. (Hope that makes sense!) Anyway, they have just re-funded the Oconto Falls Memorial Hospital, add huge additions and many specialties. They're even getting an MRI center. They're also hiring RN's almost constantly. I see new ads in the paper for RN's of all specialties at the hospital...

Marinette also has a new Baycare hospital which is constantly hiring. They're supposed to be a nice place to work.

If you've got any questions on clinics. etc, in the area, just let me know! Good luck!

Michelle

Hi Laura I'm from GB, other than a few small hospitals such as Oconto Falls, and Marinette....Most of the nurses I know travel from those areas to Green Bay...other's work in nursing homes, home health or small clinics. Good Luck!

I live in Appleton, but I go to school in Green Bay. From what I understand, there is not as much of a nursing shortage here as there is in other parts of the country. But most of my classmates that live in the Crivitz/Northeastern Wisconsin plan on making the commute to Green Bay, Oconto Falls, or Marinette. Green Bay has 4 very good hospitals and all of them are hiring. I heard Aurora has lots of openings. If you were coming from Crivitz, I think St. Mary's would be the closest one to you. Good luck!

I work in a small hospital about 25 miles from Crivitz, and have been here for 27 years. We're renovating so things are looking great. We are always looking for staff. The wages are comparable to the larger hospitals in Green Bay. Check out our WEB site at cmhospital.org. Hope you like snow because we just had a big blow. Way more snow this year than others. Fall is a gorgeous time around here.

Hope you check us out here at Oconto Falls,

Rose
