A female friend of mine was about to take a job at Windham Hospital but luckily I talked her out of it out of fear for her safety. Like the poster above mentioned and as described in a large expose article in the Hartford Courant a few years ago, the town (Willimantic) that the hospital is located in is the Heroin capital of the East Coast. If you don't know, people on Heroin will do anything to get a few dollars (rob, break into, mug, etc.) for their next high. I would never, ever allow a loved one to work in that town...especially if you have to work off shifts and have to leave work late or go into work late (2nd/3rd shift). If you don't believe me, call Willimantic Police and ask to receive a crime report that breaks down # crimes and type of crimes.
With the high demand for nurses these days, don't risk it and choose to work in a high crime city.

Anybody know anything about Windham Hospital? It's a small community hospital near the U of CT. What's the reputation like?
