Willing to relocate, but where?

Published

I have searched the forums for information on this topic, but haven't come up with anything specific, so please feel free to point me to an existing thread if you know of one. :)

I'm currently in an ADN program and hope to graduate in May 2018. I plan to continue for the RN-BSN but am looking for advice on realistically strong job markets for ADN nurses. My husband and I would like to relocate and are fairly open-minded about where we go. I have been researching "strong job markets for nurses" but what I am finding on various websites doesn't seem that realistic (ie San Francisco keeps coming up which I know is not true). We are doing our research now so that we can visit a potential relocation area on vacation this summer. We are interested in the Southwest but as I said, we are open minded.

If you know of areas of the country that do have a strong job market for new grads with an ADN, please share. I keep seeing "rural" areas which I'm good with, but if anyone has specific advice I would appreciate it. Thanks!

North and East Texas have very strong job markets. I've heard that parts of South Texas do as well.

Of note, I agree that it would be easier as a new grad to get a job in a rural area, especially one without a large number of new grads.

Virginia, specifically lynchburg, Roanoke, Bedford

Thanks for your feedback!

North central West Virginia is an AND friendly market. PM for more specifics

Upstate New York is definitely ADN friendly
