I am currently a pre-nursing student at Borough of Manhattan community college. I'm currently in the process of completing my prerequisites for the 2-year nursing program at my school and I plan to go on to complete my BSN at a different university.
The prereqs for my school are
English comp 1
Math for health professions
psychology
Anatomy and Physiology 1
Note IMPORTANT: Anatomy and Physiology 2 (not 1) is NOT a prereq for the program but is HIGHLY recommended to take before applying because A LOT of its content is on the entrance exam. (Kaplan Nursing entrance test)
So here's the thing. I'm currently taking eng comp, math for health professions, psych, and chemistry ( prereq for A and P 1). I plan to apply to the nursing program after my spring 2k18 semester so that I can begin the program in Fall 2k18. My plan was to take A and P 1 over the winter and then A and P 2 in the spring. Unfortunately, I recently found out that science courses aren't offered during the winter sessions in my school because it's too much information to learn in a matter of 2 and a half weeks. So I'm stuck with taking A and P 1 in the spring.
After doing some research I found that its possible to audit A and P 2, while taking A and P 1, but somewhere online said that nursing schools look down upon auditing a prereq before taking it. I don't want to ruin my chances of getting into an RN-BSN program in the future.
I want to know if auditing this class is worth it? or should I just purchase the A and P 2 textbook and try to learn the material on my own?
Anyone ever audited a pre req before taking it for actual credit? tell me your experience with getting into nursing school with that on your transcript.
