I just found out that I can enroll there after completing 50% of a nursing program. I will finish that in December this year and am considering going through Excelsior after that. I'm pretty sure the only requirement I may not have met is the Psychology requirement because mine may not have been a high enough level and that 1 hour literacy class (whatever that is??). Anyway....do any of you Excelsior students know if my intro to Psych will transfer? I am going to e-mail them, but thought I might get a faster response here. Thanks!

Intro psych courses should transfer, but of course you want to get the official word from your EC advisor. The Information Literacy requirement is a fairly new addition to the curriculum (2004 or 2005 I think), but it's a one-hour course which consists of reading through a bunch of online modules, taking some practice quizzes, then a straightforward final exam at the end. If you have a weekend off, you can usually knock it out in a day or two.
WOW! That WAS fast. lol Thank you for the reply. I will definitely still check with them.
Do you happen to know if I will need to do the NC1 and NC2 since I will have already completed two semesters of an ASN(RN) nursing program? All my pre-reqs will be done (except that Lit one you were talking about and maybe the psych). Any idea how long it might take me to complete? I know, it's different for everyone. I guess I'm just trying to get a good idea for someone who doesn't have any pre-reqs to finish. I work full time and have 5 children ages 8 and under. Thanks for any info!!!!
I think I remember reading from previous post that you are already a RN now, correct? If so, YEAHHHH for you!!!

melissa, i wouldn't rely on anyone else's interpretation. i'd get it straight from an ec advisor.
Thanks traumahawk99. I did say in my original post that I am going to e-mail the college, however I wanted to get a quick response from some students here just to see what they thought. Obviously, I will verify everything from the school itself. But thankyou! :)
Melissa,
The other thing I was going to say, again not knowing any specifics of your situation, is that you should definitely talk to both your current advisor and an EC advisor regarding the decision to switch schools. Some people reason that EC will be faster, and EC does move quickly for some, but you should account for certain delays in the program. One of the things that slows a lot of EC students down is the wait time between the NC exams and the CPNE. Plan on a 3-4 month wait, although it could be shorter or longer.
Thanks! I'm not in a hurry to get it done sooner than before. If I stay at my traditional school I will graduate in December 2007. I really just need something I can do at my own pace. It's been very difficult to get everything done with my schedule and I think being able to 'go to school' at nights and weekends will make a wonderful difference compared to what I'm doing now. I am curious though how long it takes different students to complete a session before taking a test. Maybe I'll do another post on that just to see what the average might be. Thanks for your information. I greatly apprecaite it!

No it did not. I ended up taking Life Span. It was really easy though. I just did my CPNE on November 30th and passed and I graduate on the 18th!!! Woo HOO!!!
