Take math, it's a requirement. Don't waste your time on the "what ifs." It's really competitive to get into any nursing program whether it's PN or RN.

Unfortunately it's not really a grey area; you either have it or you don't. As said by 27400 "it's really competetive". Math is a pain, but you need it. Sorry the answer isn't the one you're looking for. :S
Best of Luck.
Thanks guys. I will look into it.

I believe some schools have a challenge exam, where you can write it, and if you get the required percentage, you are excused from having that pre-req. However, if you don't get the required grade, you're kind of SOL...I'm not sure if the schools even do this any more, so you'd have to check iwth whichever schools you're looking at.
That said, you need to be able to do math in nursing. Basic equations and such, so it's probably better for you to just take a math course, then apply once you have all the pre-reqs.
Thanks Canadiangirl :)
Laurentian University does not require a math for their nursing BA. Brock Universities says its recommended. I'm going to talk to my guidance counsellor about this.
Thanks again

FYI: RN graduates earn either a BScN or a BN, not BA.
Can I inquire why you are hesitant to take a math course? Which part of Canada do you live in? Ontario? Don't you have to take a gr. 11U level math course to graduate from highschool anyway? If you're thinking about a gr. 12U level math course, then I don't think it's necessary for you to take it to get into nursing UNLESS (and this is a BIG unless) your gr. 11U level math grade was horrible (i.e., less than a "B"). If this is the case, then *I* strongly recommend you take a gr. 12U level math. Take Mathematics of Data Management, Grade 12, University Preparation. Most BScN programs will have some sort of statistic course you have to take in order to meet graduation requirements.
Although there are benefits of going to a guidance counsellor, he/she might not be the best person to ask about admissions to specific universities. Go directly to the source; talk with admissions in universities you are interested in attending. They can tell you more about what they're willing to overlook and what you're up against. Remember you're not the only "A" student applying to the same program. Like a job interview, you have to stand out from the crowd somehow and if you cannot even meet the bare minimum, think about why they should pick you over others who made the same grade but met the exact requirements being asked. Just my two cents. Best of luck.
Thanks 27400
Thanks for your cents , I will try to make a use of them.
