Shy Nurse
Hey, Not sure what your schools are like. It here in Ontario a lot of the classes incorporate group work, presentations, and lab partners. You get over it pretty fast. It doesn't stop after first year I've heard. You're always doing group work and presentations.. Scary at first but I figure I'm there to become a good nurse. Not make a bunch of friends. Hope that helps. :)

RPN to RN bridge
I love your answer. I was perusing and read the perioperative outline on the Georgian website. Definitely sounded interesting, but I think i'll get the 5 semesters of RPN courses out of the way first. Glad you're happy, thanks for your answer :) LadyJ

RPN to RN bridge
Hey Loriangel did you ever start this? how are you finding it? Why is the bridging program as long as the RPN program? I guess there is a lot of extra theory and content to learn??? please pardon my ignorance. LadyJ

I am SO freaking JEALOUS! lol I start Sept 6 too, I can't wait. I'm getting so impatient since I don't have my schedule or my book list yet. I hope you enjoy your courses, busy as they may keep you. All the best! LadyJ

Will I still be considered if I'm missing one admission course?
Unfortunately it's not really a grey area; you either have it or you don't. As said by 27400 "it's really competetive". Math is a pain, but you need it. Sorry the answer isn't the one you're looking for. :S Best of Luck.

MOHAWK COLLEGE RPN ? ...... :s
have you tried talking to admissions at the college of your choice? I haven't transferred before, but that's where I would start.

How far can an Practical Nurse go in their Career?
Future_hero, I admire your excitement. I feel like you're sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for a reply. I know I am! I wish I could "Kudos" all of you long timers. You should be held in the highest respect for sticking it out even though it's not all sunshine and lollipops. Thanks for being there for all of us pre nursing students and helping to prepare us for what we're going to be diving into in the next couple of weeks. LadyJ.

Second degree in nursing
Hi, check schools for "second entry" or "compressed Nursing program". i know Trent and York offer something like this. I don't know what classes you have already, but it might save you some time and money. Good Luck.

Prospective Nursing Students of Ontario?
Hello all Nurses to be! I've chosen Georgian College for the RPN Program because my previous University marks weren't high enough to get back into University, but I'm just happy that I'm able to try something new, and get back to school after being out of it for so long. I'm 27! Nervous to be a student living student life again, although bars won't be nearly as important as they used to be! Excited to be working with people and applying new skills I don't think I can pick where I want to work just yet, I know I'll have to try a few before I decide. Anyone in the Barrie area or in the same program, feel free to PM me or befriend me. All the best to all of you!!!!

Wait-listed. Where do i go from here?
Thats actually not a bad option. If you're going to be waiting a year you might as well apply it to your learning. Also, ive heard that theres early clinical work with the rpn program although i cant say for sure because im not there yet. Either way whether you do he electives for rn or start with the rpn program it would be productive.

Wait-listed. Where do i go from here?
Hi Future Hero! I'm not a student yet either, I'm starting at Georgian College in the RPN program in September. Leading up to that I've applied several times due to a few complications. Have you considered looking into January enrollments?? I know some colleges have them. It sounds like you've worked way too hard to be satisfied with being wait listed. I know that wait list calls can come up to the first two weeks of class. Hopefully that won't set you back if that's the case. If you do end up reapplying, apply to as many as you can. Sorry I'm not a heck of a lot of help, but keep us posted just the same. Fingers are crossed for you. There's nothing like wanting something so bad and knowing that it's where you should be instead of being where you are. Best of Luck. LadyJ.

CPIC check - criminal records check for CNO
I went to Newmarket and they had it for me within 15 minutes. That was both CPIC and VSS.

RPN program admission cut off?
sorry! should have kept reading!!! I got in to the RPN program at Georgian and they looked at both University and High School. I'm told that some of my university credits will allow me to be exempted from some of the communications and Gen ed courses, although i'm not sure which ones because i don't start until sept. high school marks were decent 70-80 and university grades were not so great. 65-70
