Ok, I will be graduating with my ADN in May.....YAY!! I am precepting this semester on L&D because I have wanted to work OB since I can remember. I have bought the PeriNatal Nursing book from AWHONN, I also joined AWHONN (it's much cheaper as a student), because I want to be prepared and learn as much as possible. Now, that being said, I worked Med/Surg for 1 year as an LVN, and I am NOT about to go back to that madness. My desire is to be an L&D nurse. My question is, will I be ok going straight into L&D as a new grad?? I feel confident about it, especially since I am precepting there first, and I also think my year of Med/Surg will help as well. The only thing I'm scared about is, I haven't worked at all since starting the ADN program in August, and I feel like I'm losing my skills and I don't want to be fumbling around with the small stuff. Well, any advice would be greatly appreciated, just need that extra boost of confidence I guess, this is my dream and I don't want to ruin it!!
