i did my fafsa back before it was due, and DCCCD financial aid office was running a lil slow at processing and giving me an award letter. so i was unable to register during normal registration time but my class doesnt start until the 22nd of this month. So i wanted to know if they would pay for my class or will i still have to wait til january?

I am sure that once you accepted that award letter, than they should pay for your class on time, generally speaking. But you mentioned that your fa is a little slow on things. From where I am, my FA make us sign a paper that states even if it is due to their error or processing time etc, I am still liable to make sure my tuition gets paid on the due date. If you don't have the means to pay for it all at once, start on a payment plan, and if it's just processing time, then maybe they'll pick up where you are and refund what you have paid. But before all that, go to your FA to talk to them and MAKE sure they say that it will go through. Check your balance on your account frequently, because in the end it will be your responsibility and if your class drops, there's really nothing anyone can do for you once that class is filled.

I am in my third year of college and financial aid still confuses the crap out of me. When in doubt, call the financial aid office.

If they've offered you amounts for that semester and you can still add, fin aid sure pay for it. Call you fin aid office.
