Will employers look at current degrees when considering employment?

Published

My school is no longer accredited, and I'm too far into the semester to quit. I've been told by my state board that I'm still approved to take boards and sit for NCLEX, but my scope is still limited. Will getting a BSN make me an accredited nurse? And do employers look at the BSN before they look at the institution I came from?

So this was a little info I was able to find.  Your school should be helping you find other schools to transfer to that will accept your credits.  If you are actually due to graduate this semester it is possible your graduation could even be stopped and denied depending on the state regulators.  Hopefully that won't happen to you.

Schools usually close shortly after becoming unaccredited as they no longer qualify for federal student loans.  The only bright side is you might be able to get your federal student loans discharged you should with Dept of Education re your rights.  But this could impact your future not just for getting a job, but if you want to go back for MA/NP degree.  I would try to transfer to another school and hopefully your school will be reaching out to you with info on other schools they have established relationships with  that will honor your credits.

Good luck!
